At the risk of sounding like Pollyanna....I'm only going to focus on the good things that have happened this past year. God has been with me every step of every day. I have every friend and family member today that I had with me one year ago today. God has blessed me with some of the most caring, wonderful friends in the world. I still have my job. I discovered that I can draw some. I rediscovered how much I enjoy writing. I was only Fifed two or three times. :Hahaha: I could go on for so long. . . . .God is just so good. Even when bad things happen, good things are happening, too. Savannah, LOL at only being fifed 3 times. :Hahaha: |

| Good Things I was given the all-clear after a suspected cancerous tumour in my thyroid. My mom (86) and mother-in-law (90) are are still with us and both are independent, healthy women. My daughter turned 16 and my son 13 (maybe that should be in the bad section - 2 teenagers under the one roof!!!!) I still have my health, my home and no debt excluding my motgage. My husband and I still have our jobs I completed another Marathon I too still have every friend I had this time last year Bad Things My possible cancer diagnosis and having to have surgery. All-in-all it's been a very good year and I thank God for that. I know many who haven't been as fortunate. "To change your life takes a lot of courage and energy. It's not for wimps." Karen Grassle. | This is a neat thread. Savannah, I love yours! And Susie, I love the first line of yours! Ok, so... Good things of 2008: My son graduated high school. My son started college. My son made marching band at college. We saw lots of football. Hmm...yeah, 2008 has pretty much been about my son. Bad things: My baby graduated high school. My baby started college. We are still paying on games that we charged to see my son play in the band. Filling out financial aide forms, student loans. 10,000,000 trips to Kalamazoo for college visits. Well, it seems like that. Yep, 2008 has pretty much been about my son. :haha: Really, 2008 was wonderful, mostly good, and I'm very thankful for my family and the lives we share. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| I've been very blessed this past year. My family remains healthy; while we've had to tighten our belts we still don't have to worry over the essentials; and our church family has become like a second family to us.
I've continued to pursue my writing goals and submitted my first children's picture book idea to a publisher and was a first time presenter at a writers conference.
I'm afraid that I might have to return to working outside the house if things continue the way they do, but that is a small concession to make when so many others are struggling.
Life is good! Praise God! | |

2008 has Been a GREAT Year Sounds like you've had a good year, Jacob! Congrats on the news about your new niece or nephew on the way! I don't profess to know it all, but Jacob, let me put your mind at ease on this one. You are a true Christian, rest assured. "Christian" means "Christ follower".....Jacob, you are doing your very best to follow Christ and that is obvious to all of us. All we Christians are sinners, but we are still Christians. Hope that helps. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

| Jacob, you have no worries about being a true Christian. Take the story of Lazarus. Jesus raised him from the dead, but this is what he had to say; 17On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. 18Bethany was less than two miles[a] from Jerusalem, 19and many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their brother. 20When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. 21"Lord," Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask." 23Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." 24Martha answered, "I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.[i] John 11:17-26 NIV You're good to go Jacob. | |
