| I received this in my email and thought I would share. Julie Andrews turned 73 back in October, but this is what happened when she turned 69.......What a funny lady!!! Julie Andrews Turns 69, this is hysterical
To commemorate her birthday , actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan 's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things' from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'. Here are the lyrics she used: > >>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>
(Sing It!)-If you sing it, its especially hysterical!!!
Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting, Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings, Bundles of magazines tied up in string, These are a few of my favorite things.
Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses, Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, These are a few of my favorite things.
When the pipes leak, When the bones creak, When the knees go bad, I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don't feel so bad.
Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions, No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions, Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring, These are a few of my favorite things.
Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin', Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin', And we won't mention our short shrunken frames, When we remember our favorite things.
When the joints ache, When the hips break, When the eyes grow dim, Then I remember the great life I've had, And then I don't feel so bad. > >>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>> > Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores. Please share Ms. Andrews' clever wit and humor with others who would appreciate it.

| Does she still sing? I didnt think she could any longer, since her cancer. It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart | |

The song, "Your Crowning Glory" from The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004), was the first time she had sung in public or on screen since she had throat surgery in 1997. She reportedly nailed the song on the first take, and brought tears to the eyes of the crew present. Yes, I heard about that. How cool And what a funny version of My Favorite Things :haha:

| This is hilarious!! Good grief, she nailed every single one of my parents' complaints, LOL! I have to send this to them. Thanks for sharing it Rhonda! I've always adored Julie Andrews, since first seeing Sound of Music. The special edition dvd that I own has an interview with both Christopher Plummer and her, and what a pair they make, REALLY good friends and you can see why. He is amazing as well. Both have new biographies out I would like to own! When I think of Julie I think of Mary Poppins first though---I love her so much in that role, "Practically perfect in every way!" “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

I recently purchased the 40th anniversary DVD of "The Sound of Music" (better late than never!) and I love the interraction between herself and Christopher Plummer! I didn't know that they had remained friends since the show but I had heard they costarred in the most recent "On Golden Pond." I saw parts of that and they were great in it! I think its sweet how lots of her co-stars said that Julie carried "TSOM." How sweet of them! Hmm, I'm thinking about that On Golden Pond, and I remember a "live" version on TV, maybe 5-8 years ago or so. Did anyone see this? It was Julie, Christopher, and Glenn Headly, and they did it in a 'play' form LIVE on TV! I remember it being VERY strange and even though they were all good, it felt 'weird'. Is this the one you're refering to Misti, or did they do an actual movie version of it? And that anniversary edition of "TSOM" is so worth it just to get the special features! Love it. Julie also has a bond with Dick Van Dyke as well, from Mary Poppins...their interaction on my dvd special feature is sweet too...she obviously is a great lady for her co-stars to remain so close all these years. “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

I think they wanted to do something unprecedented, you know, but even with the best of actors there were bound to be some pretty noticeable mistakes that interrupted the flow. I don't think that's ever been done since, come to think of it... “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores. Please share Ms. Andrews' clever wit and humor with others who would appreciate it.
That's too cute! :haha:
But, I've just read that it really didn't happen.

Thanks for sharing, Rhonda! Oops. I didn't see where it's already been posted as being a hoax. I saw that Snopes guy on TV, too. I visit that site and the resources that are offered there, just to double check, or I'll just type in the subject in my browers and get answers.

| oewwww A topic about Julie! I love her, I've been a big fan of her for almost 4 years now, collected almost all her films and books, she's just one special lady isn't she! I started to like Little house a year ago and sometimes I felt a little guilty because I was so into it that it felt like letting Julie down, I know silly me :shy: But anyways Julie is cool and whether she did really sing that song or not I think she rocks! |
