Windows 7 Empty
PostSubject: Windows 7   Windows 7 EmptyThu Jun 11, 2009 5:06 pm

This is the next evolution of the MS OS. It's set to replace Vista by June of next year.

However, you can get it for free from now 'til June 1 of next year, just to try it out.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/

Now, you younger members make sure to get your parents permission before downloading, because in the corner is the product key to download it, but remember this rule that's posted with the d/l;

"The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You'll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use."

Now, if you decide to reinstall whatever your current OS is at that time, you can do that, but to keep MS7, you'll have to pay then. They're just beta testing.

I haven't d/l'ed it because of pc memory probs, but I plan on trying when my pc's fixed.

You've also gotta make sure your system has this;

*

1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
*

1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
*

16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
*

DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

The ones I know using it say it's GREAT...so long as you have 2 gigs of RAM and a duel processor.

Just a heads up about what's coming up. Cool

You know M/S. Ol' Billy's gonna get his money. Did you know you'd have to pay next year?

Oh, and how do you like it?

Now I'm not literate about a bunch of that stuff but I have Windows XP on my home computer and I like it; will I get to keep it or will I have to switch over?

I never did switch to Vista at home. My boss at work did & we had lots of problems with it.

How much does it cost?

Good question.

As far as I know, the price hasn't been announced, but I'm gonna guess around $150-$200.

XP will still work fine and update. Eventually it won't, but by then there won't be anyone trying to mess with it, they'll be messing with Windows 7. grinsmiley

And you're welcome Savannah :)
