My Jake

Thanks everyone, and yes Gin...he is VERY calm....When the nurse gave him his shots, he didn't hardly make a sound....but when she started to bathe him....He sounded like a puppy barking....Very short 'barks' and 'squeaks'.....  It is SO cute....hoping his lungs will kick in soon....you know, I want Jake to know what it is to have a kid with big lungs! You know, "You pay for your raisin'!"

Rhonda I am SOOOOO happy for you!!   AND for Jake!   Little Wyatt is just gorgeous....I wish we could hear his little 'bark/squeak'! LOL!  Congratulations to you again, grandma!! (I heard someone being called "Gigi" for 'Grandma' today...thought that was really cute! I plan to be called 'Mimi' one day....well, for obvious reasons. )

And Amy, One of my friends recently became "Gigi" so I won't use her name.....Still thinking...I like "Grandmama" but then recently saw Bewitched, and that is what Tabitha calls Endora....so, put the accent in the right place.....LOL I might have to pass on that one......Feel like Pooh Bear, "Think, think, think."

"Grandma" works too!   My grandma was "Grandma" and my great grandma was "Granny".  I read an article recently about how 'granny' is coming back into vogue, lol, because of Downton Abbey, lol!  A brit thing.  I think the word 'Granny' is so CUTE.  I would consider it myself someday.  "Grandmama" was what my sister in law called her grandma and I had never heard that before...I love that too! (accent on the final 'a'...grandmama' ).  Has an old-world feel to it...love it. If you really want that title, I wouldn't let the TV show stop you!  Go for it!

NO THANKS! I know a GrandMary and a GranJan, and I just can't see my grandson calling me by my name.....I kind of like Gram or Grammy, but it will all come down to what Wyatt can say when he starts talking....

When Wyatt starts talking, he'll most likely say, "gamma or gwamma" if the "r" sound isn't quite developed yet. Ha! That's the ex-speech pathologist coming out in me. I'm old school so I like, grandma.

You could go to Google Translate and type in Grandma and then see what it translates to in other languages. You can tell Wyatt that he is calling you the same name that little children call their grandmas in ______. Then when he gets older he might be interested in that country. I love the name Grandma. It has special meaning for me because of the woman who had that name. We lived with my grandma on my grandparents farm so I knew her REALLY well.
My cousins called my Grandpa "Granddad", ugh, to this day it gives me the creeps. He was GRANDPA.

Rhonda, I just checked Google Translate, and if you have any Chinese heritage, Wyatt could call you 奶奶.  

 He probably already calls me that when he is getting his diaper changed......I already checked into all the names months ago....as in when I first learned I was going to be a grandmother.  It's not that I don't like grandma, just the warm fuzzy feelings that should go with it, don't because of someone I know using that name.  It got tarnished by this person..... Something will click in the weeks ahead, and even if it is grandma, I will make sure to polish off the tarnish left behind....
