| We're turning our garage into a room. We built a loft on one side, for the kids and there craft stuff. I'd say its about the size of Mary and Laura's loft. So, the ladder is made out of 2x4's, but it isn't screwed in yet. We where just being careful when we climbed up, and had to problems at all. We put the floor in Saturday, and the floor is slick, so nobody was supposed to climb up the ladder. Dumb me forgot! I was trying to clean up a little bit, got on the second to top rung, and the ladder slipped out from under me. It's a 6 foot drop from the loft to the floor. The rungs are close together because the ladder is for the kids, so when the ladder slipped, I went backwards, only my right foot stayed in the rung. My toes were pointed to the floor, but I was flat on my back on top of the ladder. If I hadn't had my boots on, I probably would have broke my foot. If I hadn't had my boots on, my foot probably would have slipped out of the rung easily, but then I would have broken my back, or seriously injured it. The Dr. said I did pretty much everything but break it. Needless to say I'm hobbling around on crutches, with a big bruise that makes it painful to sit down. My whole body is sore today, lol. I guess that's what I get when I fall 6 ft. Did I mention this is the same garage that a couple weeks ago my Granddad had a different ladder fall with him on it, he landed on it and cracked a few ribs? I'm never getting on another ladder in the garage again. lol Anyway, just thought I'd share my latest adventure with you. ~ Home is the nicest word there is ~ | |

| Wow, Sorry you took a great fall! I'm getting ready to turn our garage into a room too, but I think I'll leave out the loft! LOL Take it easy and let everyone else do the work. | Wow! Glad you weren't hurt more seriously. I think I would be avoiding the garage, or at least ladders in the garage for a while. Praying that you heal quickly. | |

| Ouch!! I hope you heal up fast. I think your family should be extra careful when using ladders in that garage from now on. Your poor granddad too!! | |
