| Yesterday, I was in and out of the house a lot, and in good weather, I have to watch for Opie and Thomas - both professional door-divers. The door can inch open ever so slightly, and they'll shoot out before I even have a chance to say their names! When it's cold like this, though, I generally don't have to be concerned, because the cats stay indoors with no complaint. Usually. But yesterday, when my brother came over and wanted to play with Opie, we couldn't find that chubby cat anywhere. And even when we shook his little box of treats (which usually brings him tearing in like a bolt of lightning) he didn't answer, and didn't come. So I thought that with me going in and out so much, maybe Opie sneaked out onto the porch. It's an enclosed porch, so I went out there and called his name....Didn't see or hear anything. At first. . . . Then. . . over at my neighbor's house, on their front porch, I saw a very chubby gray cat leap up onto their railing and calmly start bathing itself. I gasped, and hurried over to get Opie before he could run off again. I quickly and quietly made my way over, hoping that Opie wouldn't turn around and see me coming. (His back was toward me.) I was JUST reaching my arms out to scoop him up and take him home....and I said "WHAT are you doing here at the neighbor's house you. . . . . " Then he turned to look at me - and it wasn't Opie! I looked around quickly to see if any of the neighbors were home to witness me nearly "catnapping" their feline. (It was quite willing to go with me, too!) So with no witnesses to explain myself to, I hurried back home - and found Opie impatiently waiting in the kitchen for me by his food dish. I don't know where he'd been when we'd been calling him and looking for him - but I'm going to let him know how close he came to having a new "sibling". | |

| LOL, Savannah! When I saw the title of this thread, I KNEW I was in for a good laugh. I wonder where in the heck he was that whole time? I bet he was up to no good, and hired that other cat as a decoy to distract you. You better take a closer look around the house for clues to what may REALLY be going on. | |

| I wish someone would have been secretly taping you so we could see you laughing when you realized it wasn't Opie! | |

| That would have been great, Carol! Savannah, you need to find Opie's new hiding place Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow. | |

| Savannah that's so funny! I could see myself doing the same thing you did. What a mischevious little cat Opie is. | |

| Now, we can't really blame poor Opie for this one because he was in the house where he should be. [See, I stick up for you Opie!]
That's too funny Savannah. I've had things like that happen with my cats, where I've called and called without results and got worried they somehow escaped. With all the woods behind our house, they would be food for the wild critters if they did get out, so I have to be very careful.

| My mom once looked for her cat for 6 hours thinking the worst. Finally after calling my brother for help, he said "Mom, open a can of catfood and set it on the counter." She did and within 10 minutes April arrived stretching and ready for a snack. Cats never turn down food. They can be the most stubborn creatures!! It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart | |

| My little brother put our cat in the clothes hamper once. The cat just went to sleep and enjoyed himself. I don't think he was in there long enough to get hungry but he didn't complain when we let him out. | |

Opie
Dear Opie, I know it must be tough to be a poor little kitty always accused of such naughty things. Maybe if your mistress didn't try to dress you up in those silly outfits around Christmastime you wouldn't feel the need to be mischievous from time to time. Love, The Greatest Supporter of Opie's Tales P.S. Come to my house and I'll spread out some catnip on your kitty bed. I won't even ask you to behave first.
