Anyway....each person has his own way of dealing with the loss of a pet, and since it has been almost a year for your dog, and you are seeing this cat.....it sounds like you are ready to move on with another animal. Find out if the cat has a home, and if not, take it in.....If it does have a home, go to a shelter and find a new pet....or better yet, go to a shelter and let the pet find YOU! oops, sorry ! sorry about your dog i should say! Yeah that's a good idea...Mybe i will look into that sometime when i have the money and stuff. |

| Our most recent loss was our cat, Padre, who we had for 16 years. We only waited about a month before we got our cat, Caesar, who we adopted through a pet shelter. Every situation is different as far as when a person is ready to get a new pet after a loss. Getting Caesar so soon after losing Padre wasn't a way for us to try to replace her, especially since Caesar was a kitten when he got him, and Padre was older, and so very mellow. But, having Caesar did help fill a void we felt and he certainly brings us a lot of laughter. We'll always miss Padre, but we love Caesar too. | |

| When our 11 year old Shepard died February 2001, we waited only three months to get Chelsey, our Golden Retriever mix puppy. I can't believe she's almost 9 years old now. Animals are a blessing and there are so many pets who need a loving home. To me, it's like honoring the pet that you lost by getting a new pet. You sound to me like you are ready for this Krissy. Go for it! The only thing is, if this is a cat that you've found in your backyard, are you sure it doesn't have a home? Some cats are roamers but still have a place to call 'home'. You would also need to take him into the vet and get him all checked out before he becomes your 'pet'. Your best bet may be to go to the Humane Society---you could see all the cats in action (ours at our Humane Society are not caged unless they have 'problems'---they're in a big room together with lots of tunnels and play houses---it's fun to go watch them!)...this way you can get a feel for their personalities and will come home with all their vaccinations and spaying/neutering. Good luck Krissy---let us know what happens! Also, here is a great way to find a pet....I LOVE this site, but the problem is I find too many that I want to adopt, and we already HAVE two dogs, LOL! http://www.petfinder.com/index.html“Not all of us can do great things.
