Humming along....

We put up a hummingbird feeder today at the campgrounds, and within five minutes, there was a little hummingbird who was eager to be the first visitor!

At first, she politely ate dinner, and used excellent manners....





But after a while, her appetite proved to be too much for her, and she decided to dive in wholeheartedly:



She drank everything she could in a few quick sips.....


And then was kind enough to point her friends in the right direction:




I think I'm going to put out a couple more feeders. Those little birds are so cute!!

I love hummingbirds. I've got a few that visit my feeders. The most interesting thing is when two come at the same time. They do the very thing that all creatures of the same species seem to do whenever they get together - they fight.

They are sooooooo cute!!!

One of these Humming birds visits me EVERY springtime, when its begins. I live in a flat, but the humming bird comes to my balcony - plenty of wonderful flowers - and flies up and down to announce he/she has returned from northern regions (in Argentina the southest you goes, the coldest it is) to his/her ancient home. This wonderful bird always lay eggs at the top of our balcony and grows his/her babies there. He/she teachs the babies how to fly and in the middle of the Fall he/she flies away to the northern and warmer regions only to return at the start of springitime. Now, we are over the time of beggining winter, so our little humming friend is not here yet. But I wait he/she as soon as springtime begings!

No, it's a small campground that my family has a little travel trailer at for the summer.

Rob! Did you know that when two hummingbirds come to the feeder at the same time, they fight?? I bet you didn't know that, did you? *snicker* Five hummingbirds came to the feeder today, and while there are FOUR areas on the feeder that they could have used, every single one of them wanted the same one! I got some good pictures, though. (NO, not of the fights. )

In some of the pics - especially the last one - the hummer looks angry. But that's not surprising. If there's one thing I've learned in my rural life, it's that everything in nature is always a little mad at everything else.

Loved the pictures! What lovely creatures these humming birds are! They are not angry. I think they could look a little upset for they DO knows they werebeing photographiated. Don't tell me why, but animals always knows when we are taking pic of them. Some did like it and even looks more relaxed when we are picturing them; others doesn't like the thing A BIT. Like this little hummings seems to.

That's one of the best hummer photos I've ever seen!

THAT IS AWESOME! What lens did he use? I hide in the bushes with my 300 mm, but it never fails that I have to go to the bathroom. I don't think I would be very good waiting out animals.
Maybe if I limited my fluids.....no nevermind.
