James Maury "Jim" Henson (September 24, 1936 – May 16, 1990)
He was one of the most widely known puppeteers in history and was the creator of The Muppets. He was the leading source behind their long run in the television series Sesame Street and The Muppet Show.
His wish was to make a difference in the world and leave it better for having been here. His wish came true.
Soooo.... let's talk about some of YOUR favorite muppets!

One of my favorite TV Shows (after Little House...of course! ). I just loved Grover, Kermit and Miss Piggy. She was so funny and histerical! Here in Argentina, Kermit was known under the name of "Rana René", Grover was "el oso Figueredo" and Miss Piggy...was just Miss Piggy! Her name never changes! She was a diva... Vanesa.

Cookie Monster was my favorite on Sesame Street when I was growing up. After I had kids and watched with them, Elmo became my favorite. Who wouldn't love Elmo?
As far as The Muppets, wow, that's a hard choice. When I was a kid, definitely Miss Piggy. I'm not sure now if I like Fozzie Bear (sp?) or Animal (I think that's the red, hair one) better.

When I was a little girl I got a Grover Muppet for Christmas, I think I was about 5 or 6. I took it to bed every night. He was my favourite because I had a book that I knew word for word by age 3. It was called THE MONSTER AT THE END OF THIS BOOK starring loveable, furry ol Grover. I now read it to my nephew and neice. And now we have a second edition that includes Elmo with Grover. Now there are 2 monsters at the end of the book, lol. Very cute.

I STILL have that book!!
I loved Sesame Street! When I first went to school I went to half-day kindergarten. I went in the morning. Not too long ago my mother brought up the fact that she had no idea why she sent me then when her other kids went in the afternoon. I told her that I liked it because not only was the rest of my day at home but by the time I got home Sesame Street was on. I would've missed it otherwise. No, I take that back. They did show it again about 4:30, I think. Still, I liked my Sesame-Mr.Rogers double feature in the afternoon.
I always liked Cookie Monster. The Count was pretty good, though.
As for The Muppets, I loved them, too. I'd watch The Muppet Show whenever it was on.
I always liked how Kermit got to be the only one on that was on two shows. Kermit is good, but Miss Piggy is better. I loved her. And as a crazy kid, I thought she was so pretty!
I watched The Muppet Babies religiously on Saturday mornings. I even have some recorded still. I love the different Muppet movies. I even saw "Follow That Bird" (the Sesame movie) in the theater!
Who's going to do the cooking?!?!

I watched both Sesame Street and Muppet Show at much older ages than was probably considered to be 'normal' back then, LOL. On Sesame Street, Bert and Ernie were my favorite....I'd have to say Grover too. But as far as Muppets, it's Kermit and Miss Piggy all the way. What a sizzling romance! I had everything Kermit as a kid, and the first movie I ever saw the The Muppet Movie, at the age of 10. (Times sure were different back then!). I remember being VERY jealous of Miss Piggy's wardrobe....man, that pig was stylin'!

Oh, that's so funny. My sister got a Grover and I got a Big Bird one year for Christmas too. I think we have that book somewhere around here.
