I've noticed that too, Jacob. Country music sure has evolved over time to where a lot of it sounds like anything else on the radio. I hear a lot of music labeled "country" on the pop music stations my daughter listens to. And, that's what it sounds like, pop.

American country is great. I've always liked this style of music, but I don't really aprreciate it mixed with pop or rock ...Do you know that here, in Argentina, they are doing almost the same with folk music? They mix it up with pop and rock style and the results are not good at all. We have an Argentinian folk festival music that now made its 50' years of life, and they replaced almost all folk with mixed rock-pop sounds. That's really awful, and I'm very angry, since I don't like our folk music to disappear (and it should be a pity, since people actually LIKES it). I'm sad learning that in the USA's they are doing the same...

Well Jake, things have changed, for better or worse. Even Kid Rock's singing country sometimes.
But they're not all bad;

By the same token, the pop stations are sometimes playing what I consider 'country'....this 'crossover' thing seems to have everyone confused!

Oddly enough, this is the month I shoulda had that avatar. If you want Jake, I got some good old country playlists I can give to you. I think. If I figure out how YooToob does that. The wife calls me the king of obscure, so I find stuff that people forgot years ago.

I've never been one for country music, but I sure do see the change. I like Ricky Nelson a bit and he always seemed to have a twang of country in his voice.
