Praying for Mom, Gin....Hang in there.....I know how it is to be living in a different state when something is going on with a family member.....love you!

Mom is in the ICU. They are trying to give her meds to regulate her heart rate, but its still too fast. My Mom's younger sister, Janice is an RN so I called her this morning. She went to see Mom and says she seems to be handling things good. Doctor is saying she may need to stay on bloodthinners for awhile.
If things get worse I will head into Arkansas but for now I'm staying put. My brother is there and he will let me know more soon. The good thing is my kids are out on Spring Break next week.
Keep the prayers coming. She needs to get the heart rate stable asap. The good that has already come from this is that she was planned for knee surgery soon, so glad we know about this now.

My prayers are coming your mom's way too Gin. My BIL has been having similar heart issues himself. A couple of years ago he went through exactly what your mom is going through. He was told that his heart was not beating in rhythm. The upper chamber was beating faster then the bottom chamber. They gave him a shot and that did the trick. But a year later same issue, this time they had to shock his heart to get both sides beating as a single unit. Now they are investigating as to the cause for re-occurrence. He just had an ultrasound and that came back good. It might be just a matter of changing his blood pressure medication and watching his diet more closely. He's home and functioning back to normal until the next episode.

Praying for your mom.

Mom was shocked back into a good heart rhythm this morning. Very simple procedure, just sounds harsh. Meds, did help yesterday but didn't get it where the Doc. liked it to be.
She might go home as soon as tonight, but my brother and I are trying to get the Doc. to keep her for another night. Her blood pressure is low so I just want that monitored a bit longer. My stepdad has early Parkinsons and although he does well, he is forgetful. I dont want him not remembering her meds or something . She needs to get rest first before going home.
Thank you all for your prayers. If all goes well from here I wont be traveling to Arkansas. Mom has a sister that plans to stay a few nights with her after she gets home. Gas prices would eat me up going that far......stinks to be this far away when things come up.

I'm so glad to hear that her heart is back in its proper rhythm, Gin! That's wonderful news. I'll pray that they keep her one more night.

What a good new! Hope she keepd this way for life! I'll keep praying until she is in her own home, tough.

I missed this until now, Gin. So glad to hear your mom is doing better. I will say prayers for her.

Mom came home late yesterday. She sounded good over the phone just tired. She has some new meds and I believe she will do fine. She will have to go to her regular doctor in a week. I am thinking a lecture on diet is coming. My mom cooks like Paula Dean. EVERYTHING is so good, but naughty. SO, guess she will have to use that low fat cookbook I got her 10 yrs ago. LOL
