| I'M BACK!!!! And I am SOOOOoooOOOOooo tired! I got on my plane in Ontario, California (supposed to be off the ground at 11:40 am PST). The pilot makes an announcement about the engine pressure light not coming on, which is SUPPOSED to do, so we will have to wait for maintenance to fix the problem. We are sitting there from 11:30-12:15 waiting and he finally comes back and makes the announcement that the problem is fixed and we will be on our way. We taxi out onto the runway and here comes the pilot with another announcement. This time, there are thunderstorms going on in Dallas and all the planes have been grounded until it goes over. We sit on the runway, engine running, and wait. We finally hear the announcement that the update is made on the hour and we have 25 minutes to wait for the clearance.....come 3:00 pm PST, we are hearing that it is ok for take off.....and so we sit, watching all the other planes take off before us.......At 3:15, we are in position to take off.......and finally in the air.....half way to DFW, we get yet another announcement that we are being re-routed over Oklahoma......by this time, I am saying, "Just toss me out at the border of Oklahoma and Arkansas, I just want off that plane." This by the way, is another 20 minute delay. We have now been delayed 2 1/2 hours with this flight. When we finally land, we all hit the ground running only to find out that our connecting flights have all left without us, even though we were told ALL the flights were held up because of the weather and we would be making our same connections.....NOT! So, I find the next flight to Fort Smith isn't leaving till 8:55 CST and it isn't even 7:00 yet......I decide to find something to eat, since I was 5 hours on a plane, that no longer feeds you, and I hadn't had anything since breakfast.....I find a place that looks reasonable and when I get in line, they are closing down for the night......too bad, there are a LOT of other people coming that way off the late planes and they could be making some EXTRA money for the day...........I find a McDonalds...,,,when I get back to my gate, the place that was closing, is now serving people who came in late off of planes..... I get back to where my flight is to leave and it now says it is not leaving until 9:05. I go to the counter to make sure that I am on that flight, only to find that they had not transferred my name from the other flight to this one, and they can only put me on standby!?!?!?! There is another group on standby as well who was supposed to have been on the flight and weren't put on there....we are pacing the floor wanting so desperately to run through the open door and get on the flight anyway....we DID pay for the ride......They finally let the 4 of us get on, and we are ready to go. We do not get off the ground until 9:30.....we were in a long line of planes waiting to take off...... I finally get off that plane a little after 10:00, get to hunt for my luggage, which by the way, was NOT on standby, it was there waiting on me!!! I get home, get somewhat unpacked so I have what I would need this morning for work, and finally crash around 11:30 CST........:sleep: Needless to say, I did NOT get the sleep I needed and I am dragging this morning....but...........I'M BACK!!!!!!! CANCER FREE!!! April 9, 1998-April 9, 2023-I AM A SURVIVOR!!! | |

So, how was the rest of the trip? I hope much better!

| Well, you've just given me another reason not to fly. I'm sorry you had such a frustrating experience, but I'm glad it was nice to be back for a while.
I understand exactly what you are saying about your old place. I live in a town about 15 mins from where I grew up. When I drive by my old house I hate to see the condition it's in.
Glad to have you back with us.

| Welcome back, Rhonda! Sorry you had such a frustrating flight. When I flew (for the first time!) 3 years ago, I found out the hardway that the plane doesn't feed you anymore - despite the fact that my ticket said "meal" on it, I was given a box that contained some kind of crackers, butter, 2 cookies, and I think a bag of trail mix as well, LOL. And, my luggage ended up on the wrong flight! It wasn't here to meet me when I got home, and the airport promised me they'd locate it and get it to me the next morning. When it wasn't there by the afternoon, I called the airport and ended up talking to a computer that said it's name was "Fred". What a frustrating experience! LOL. But at least, a taxi came with my things by late evening.
Glad to have you back! :)

- The rest of the trip was a bittersweet one.
The reunion was fun and I got to see my 2 best friends .....There were supposed to be more, but they didn't show at the last minute....... Brought back many fun memories and good laughs seeing how everyone had changed or hadn't changed.....:haha: On Sunday, my sister and I went to our old neighborhood and drove down memory lane, although the lane has changed quite a bit because of the fire a couple of years ago that basically wiped everything out. We walked up the driveway to the old house and were saddened at the way it looked.....the yard was gorgeous, but they had torn out a lot of trees and shrubs and had painted the stucco house an UGLY color!!! We almost started crying when we saw that. Then we drove around the area trying to remember how it looked when we grew up there, and we both had a hard time getting those back in our heads....... Went to the cemetery where our oldest sister is buried and for the first time, I got to see her headstone/bench. That was a very hard thing to do and realize. Also saw my Gramps and Granny's graves. As I said before, it was a bittersweet trip.........and I am glad to be home......... I'm glad that you had fun at the reunion and were able to catch up with some friends. It is sad to see how things change sometimes. Especially when it's not for the better. I'm sure going to the cemetary was very difficult. {{{{HUGS}}}}
