Oh Carol, those pictures....
The one of the frightened panda, that literally made me cry. And of course the woman carrying the child. Horrific doesn't even begin to cover it.
I know, I thought about the animals too....I remember all the Katrina animals that were rescued and sent to other states. That was Katrina. This is on such a GRAND scale it's literally incomprehensible. The loss of people, and the loss of animals.

Bless their hearts! I'm glad that they didn't get hurt in the process.
That whole situation is beyond comprehension for me. I can't even begin to imagine how they're making it through from day to day.

What a sad experience...Japan seems to the point to be distroyed, ready to disappear. My hear is bleeding fr those poor people...so much struggle fr lossing all that they loved and they fought for... . It's too cruel.

We were discussing the earthquake tonight with my oldest daughter's boyfriend. I think he said the Atlantic and Pacific plates normally move the land 3" at a time but with this quake it moved 59 feet. Has anyone else heard that? Or maybe I misunderstood him.
Spring is finally here, the lovely pink blooms on the "spray" tree outside my window are gone leaving a beautiful willow.

Well I know, the main island of Japan moved 8 feet and the Earth's axis has shifted 10 cm following the Japan earthquakes.

I read somewhere that some of the flooded areas may remain covered with water permanently - that the weight of the water may have actually lowered the land. I'm not sure how accurate that report was, though.

Having a bit of a phobia about deep water, that was rather terrifying to watch. I started to panic a little, and I wasn't even in the car.
I'm really glad to hear that the person filming that scene survived!

Well, CNN just reported that...
Monitors in Sacramento, California, have detected a small amount of radioactive material from the earthquake-struck nuclear power plant in Japan, an official with the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization said.
The exact amounts were not available, but were far less than what would be considered harmful to human health, the official said.
A magnitude 9.0 earthquake hit northern Japan on March 11, triggering tsunamis that caused widespread devastation and crippled a nuclear power plant.

Hmm..... I'm not sure it's smart to post that article... now more people will be buying more pills...

By watching this video, you can help to contribute to match $1,000 to send relief to Japan
RiceBunny Charity Channel was able to donate $1000 to the Red Cross to help Japan. If this video gets 1 million views, I will match the donation by donating an additional $1000. For those of you who do not have the financial capability to donate, your view counts towards helping Japan. Just know that you were part of the contribution!
