In "I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away (Part 2)" Mary attents the school for blind.
I only know the dubbed german version of this episode and I was a little bit confused when in the scene where Adam is going to teach Mary how to eat correctly, he says something like: "Soup is ready" But there is no soup served in that scene.
Well, first I thought it was a blooper in the translation and they made "Suppe" (=soup) from the word "supper", what sounds very much alike in German. But another person, who owns the original DVDs, told me that Adam says "Soup's on" indeed.
I never heard this before and can't find this phrase in my dictionary. Is this a common phrase in the USA for "Dinner is ready" or is it a local idiom?
It would be nice if anybody could tell me something about that.
