Absurd

I read in the paper yesterday that said there will be no screaming on the Screamer! That's the rule at a suburban amusement park for its new ride, the Scandia Screamer.

Due to the complaints from the neighbors nearby, riders who let out a screech on the gigantic, windmill-like contraption that sends people plunging 16 stories to Earth at nearly 60mph, are pulled off and sent to the back of the line..........

Ugh :unsure: ..........I just can't help wondering, how in the world are they going to do that?! If someone screams, are they going to stop the ride immediately, raise up a ladder, go up and pull that rider off, then continue rest of the ride for all the other riders? :scratch:

Does that make sense to you guys? Isn't that just absurd?!

Then what's the point of having the ride?
You just got to let loose, scream, yell, relax.... if not, you'll get a heart attack on the ride lol

I can't imagine the ride being very popular if they are going to have a silly rule like that.

I really can sympathize with the neighbors, because I LOVE a quiet neighborhood. I doubt that the neighbors could easily move, because it could be difficult to sell a home so close to a noisy amusement park. BUT, even though I can see the neighbors' point, and understand where they're coming from - I can't see how the park management is going to easily enforce the rule. I mean, come on. The ride is full . . . a lot of people on the coaster, going full-tilt, barreling down the steep slope - and you hear A SCREAM! Okay, so what now? Stop the ride and interrogate the passengers, hoping that someone will snitch and point out the weakest link? Good grief.

There is a new subdivision in a town not too far from my house. Not too far away from these houses is a farm that has been there for over 100 years. The new owners of the houses went to the township to complain about the manure from the fields. The farmers got in trouble for doing what they had been doing for ever so long. If you don't like it, don't move there. How dumb can people be?

How ridiculous! I mean, why would you live to near an amusement park if you don't expect it to be noisy?

We had the same situation here, Marilyn. The family has owned a large pig farm for generation after generation. It *does* smell terrible, but people are warned about that before they buy into the area. A very wealthy family moved a couple of farms away, and after a short while, filed a suit against the farmers. I live 10-15 miles away from the farm, so I'm not affected. But, if you're warned about the smell and move there anyway, what do you expect?? Good grief.

That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. That is part of the thrill of these rides, is to be scared to death and the screaming part is more of reflex action. Not really something you can control.

They live next to a 12-lane freeway, but an amusement park ride on the OTHER SIDE of it bothers them? That's weird enough to be funny.

Kind of reminds me of the lady who ordered a hot coffee, spilled it on herself and then sued because it was hot and burned her.

And if she hadn't been burned, she probably would've sued McDonalds for selling her cold coffee.

But I do love the irony of outlawing screaming on something called the Scandia Screamer. Next I suppose they'll forbid merriment on the Merry-Go-Round. Oh, and from now on the Tunnel of Love will be known as the Tunnel of Mutual Respect. :sillySmiley:
