Hey, Gin... Empty
PostSubject: Hey, Gin...   Hey, Gin... EmptyWed Jun 29, 2011 3:26 pm

Yesterday I was at the store, and before long, you came to my mind, because I heard someone calling for "GG". It made me think of you and Rob right away...I was going to post and tell you about that last night, and tell you that if you did happen to make it this far north, to be sure to bring your pencils along, and we could draw while we chatted....Well, I ended up with a migraine last night, so I didn't get a chance to post and tell you about it. . . but hearing Rob's nickname for you must've stuck in my mind because I ended up having two dreams about you! In the first dream, I was only watching, I wasn't actually in it...Rob had gone down to Texas on vacation, and had stopped at a park to meet you and your family. He took a picture of you taking a picture and posted it on the board. That would be the perfect picture of you, Gin! Hey, Gin... 185146

In the next dream, you came to my hometown, and there was a big art festival going on, where Main Street (which is brick) was closed down, and people could actually sit (or lay) on the street and draw the downtown. So you and I had these huge sheets of paper spread out on the street and we were drawing the brick theater. (Using pastels, by the way.) We talked for a long time as we drew, and we just about had our pieces finished when some big-footed man came along and WALKED across our drawings!
Hey, Gin... 184143 Before either one of us could say anything, though, we noticed that rather than having damaged our drawings, it had actually burnished them for us - saving us the final "step" (pun intended) in our drawings. Hey, Gin... 135245

It was a very fun dream. Who knew that just hearing Rob's nickname for you would bring about such dreams. (And it turned out to be a darling little boy named "Georgie" who was the "GG" at the store, by the way.)
Hey, Gin... 440956 But who knows...Maybe someday we'll really be able to get together to draw and chat, Gin! Hey, Gin... 811339

Edited to add:
I found a couple of shots of Main Street....

"Weird", Alex? Those are the normal ones. Hey, Gin... 440956

Hey, Gin... 6472 Thank you, Rob. I love the trees, and the old-fashioned look of the downtown with the brick road...And I love the sound that the brick road makes as you drive over it. (Makes for a rather bumpy bike ride, though. Hey, Gin... 440956 )

I told Rob about this a while back....When I was a young girl, the mayor decided that the brick road was too "small-townish", and had it torn up and replaced with a regular road. There was such an outcry among town residents that they ended up having it torn up yet again a couple of years later, and replaced with the current brick road. I have a bunch of bricks from our first brick road - they're lining my flower beds. Hey, Gin... 811339

Sounds like you had a warped mayor! Yikes I mean, how much more 'big town' did he think your town would be with a paved road?? Whistle HeeHee

Hey, Gin... 440956 I know...like adding one more paved road would make us so "big city". It was a good thing the next year was an election year or we might not have gotten our brick road back. He wanted to please the people, so he went along with what was wanted.

I think the town I grew up in has one brick street left. We get to drive on it every time I go to my parents' house.
