The town of Traverse City, Michigan recently staged a lip dub. They're dubbing to Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al, and Van Halen's Jump. Heeeere's TC!...

I love how at the beginning, one side of the theater's marquee has "TC LIP DUB" on it. That was quite a production!

There's a funny moment early on. The guy with the tie at the one-minute mark is local anchorman Mark Schollett. The lady who comes along five seconds later is his co-anchor Diana Fairbanks, and her bodyguard shoves him out of the frame.

Can you imagine how much work goes into something like that?

I finally had to look up Traverse City on a map a while ago to see where it was located. Various friends from Ohio would tell me they sometimes vacation there and would then ask, "How close do you live to Traverse City?" Now I can answer "Not very" instead of I don't know."

Rob, you know I loved that! My parents are both from there so it's our home away from home. Loved seeing all the hotspots. Cheryl, I really can't imagine how tough this must be! I'm assuming this was NOT filmed right during the Cherry Festival Rob? I can only imagine how tough it would be to shut down streets at that time! Doesn't look like we're going to be able to get up there this year....we'll shoot for next summer! (Lori, you'll have to make it a vacation destination sometime....it's a beautiful area, not just T.C. itself, but the outlying areas, like Glen Arbor and Sleeping Bear area.)

I knew you'd like that, Amy.

I believe it was shot after the Cherry Festival and before the Film Festival. Right at the beginning, you can see a blurb for the TC Film Fest on the marquee of the State Theatre. I think that's still going on.
Aside from the two news anchorpeople I pointed out above, and one other news guy, I didn't really recognize anyone. I'm sure there were deejays and other local personalities. Did you see the ladies on rollerskates right after Jump starts? Those are the Toxic Cherries, Traverse City's roller derby team.

Yes, Amy, it would be nice to go up there for vacation sometime. There are lots of places in Michigan we need to explore sometime. This summer has been very busy for Gary and Kara. I'd definitely like to see more of Michigan than where we live and I-96!
