That's a lipogram of Mary Had a Little Lamb. A lipogram intentionally omits one letter of the alphabet in whatever is written. Somebody wrote an entire book omitting the letter E! I can't imagine writing a book without being able to use "the".

I wonder why you're having the spacing issue, Rob. (As much as I was spacing-out tonight on the puzzle it seems that *I* should be the one having the spacing issues. )

I'm not sure I get that. Does it have to be a common letter that's missing? I notice there's no O. But none of Alex's letters are there either.

This one omits the letter S intentionally. (Which is why it was changed to "pale white hue" instead of "white as snow". ) Some other letters are missing, but only by coincidence.
