Texas Fires Empty
PostSubject: Texas Fires    Texas Fires EmptyTue Sep 06, 2011 9:25 am

OhMy We have had enough heat , so now that fires are breaking out its awful. The fires that you hear about on the news/weather channel is around 20 to 30 miles from us, although we've had small ones in our area too. We smell smoke with all the winds we've had due to Tropical Storm Lee. Its really putting us on edge. There were alot of people grilling yesterday with it being Labor Day and just not enough caution taken.

We have no more rain in the forcast so honestly we are hoping for another system in the gulf to bring us what it will. Need lots of prayers for rain for the folks who have already had to leave their homes . (Around 500 so far) This fire that is so bad will take days to burn out or be put out.

On a better note, we woke to 57 degrees this morning and mild winds. Every little bit helps. I'm getting a pumpkin (fake) out today to promote FALL! Thanks....Gin

Gin, I was just going to start a thread asking whereabouts this area was in location to you. I read the article on yahoo and was pleased to see that at least the winds are mild. Whew. That is REALLY close to you though....too close for comfort, I'd say! OhMy I'd be nervous too. I'll be praying that you will all be safe, and for those who have already lost their homes. No

It must be SUCH a relief to have 57 degree weather there, after all you have gone through with this heat. I can't even imagine!

How are things today, Gin? I had read that they still were not able to get it under control. Is the situation looking any better?

How are things doing for you, Gin? I've read in American papers that they couldn't put the fire off... No

Vanesa.

Well the news sure is scary. The amount of fires around is amazing. We do smell smoke at different times during the day because of the north wind. Our winds are not too bad now though.
We are going to have to get rain soon. LOTS of slow rain. I am hoping that whatever is coming up in the gulf will bring something. I think Nate is out there now.

I have taken on the job of watching the neighbors kids as well as the "older" neighbor across the street who is a smoker because it would only take a spark to start something in our area.
Clay has been watering the foundation of our house because alot of people are reporting cracks in theirs. The heat has been awful on roads and yards alike.

I think I know how Pa felt when the weather brought just the opposite that is needed. pray

Today things are a little clearer. I know those fires are still burning but without much wind here now its better.

Madison had to stay home from school yesterday. He has asthma, so pretty sure what is in the air plus ragweed has him coughing right now. He went today but with a note to sit out of PE. I have learned that once he has something starting he needs 24 hours of rest to get ahead of it. No wheezing yet...hope that wont happen.

It was scary...but I think things are better. We haven't sniffed smoke in about 10 days now. We do still need lots of rain. Keep those prayers coming.

I think that now that you are in Fall, maybe the weather could go a little fresher and then, fire will stop...If not, I wil keep praying, tough.

Vanesa.
