| Here's a satellite view of the forest fire that's burning in northern Minnesota. They actually evacuated a mall in Traverse City, Mich., which is about 600 miles southeast of the fire, when shoppers smelled smoke and couldn't tell where it was coming from. | |

| Why oh why..do we have to deal with these this year! We keep having them pop up here too. It is the lack of Christianity that has brought us where we are. Not a lack of churches or religious forms but of the real thing in our hearts. LIW.....Words From a Fearless Heart | |

| How are things down there now, Gin? Ha! I said that Traverse City, Mich. was 600 miles from Ely, Minn., where the fire is, because that's what I heard on the news. But I just checked the distance with an online mileage chart, and it's actually 381 miles. | |

| Oh my gosh, I can't believe the smoke can be smelled over in T.C.! Teresa, you're not in any danger, are you? | |

| We can smell the smoke all the way over here in Toronto and many parts north. It was on the news because everyone was wondering where the smell was coming from. It's amazing that it is reaching this far. | |

| Wow! That's awful. When we arrived in the Outer Banks this year, they had spent the previous month battling wildfires and we could smell smoke for the first few days we were there.
Stay safe everyone. | |

| Really?? I thought 600 seemed much too far and 381 much too short. | |

| Ah. Mine was as the crow flies rather than driving distance. So you see, we're both right. Only me more so. | |

| I know I am late talking about this, too, but I just want to say something. I had to get something returned to/picked up from the library. When I left that morning (it was pretty early), I could smell something like smoke. So I naturally get a little paranoid thinking it is my home! It was SO strong. But I couldn't see anything. I looked at the house across the street and I could see it was hazy. So I figured that there had to be a fire nearby somewhere (even though I hadn't heard any sirens or anything). I get into the garage and the smell, for some reason, was stronger in there. I drive out to the specific library that I needed to go to. I kind of forgot about the smell until I got there. Why? Because it smelled there, too (this library is about 20 minutes from home). So I go in and when I came out, it was still there. Yes, I was paranoid. I seriously started to think it was my car! Why else would the smoke smell follow me?! But when I got back home, the house across the street looked even hazier. I then talked to my mom and she brought the Minnesota fire up to me. So that smoke/smell made it all the way down to Milwaukee. I just thought I would tell that story. No point to it, really. Who's going to do the cooking?!?! | |
