| Fried Apples 'n' Onions
2 Tablespoons bacon fat or oil 1 medium onion, peeled and cut into 1" chunks 4 tart cooking apples, washed, cored, and cut into 1" chunks 1 to 2 Tablespoons brown sugar Crumbled cooked bacon (optional)
1. Heat the fat in the skillet over medium heat. 2. Carefully add the onions and cook until they start to soften, about 5 minutes. 3. Add the apples, cook 1 minute, cover, and cook 3 or 4 minutes more. 4. Stir occasionally so the apples cook evenly. 5. Uncover and sprinkle the apples 'n' onions with brown sugar and/or crumbled bacon if you like. Serve hot. This recipe makes 4 servings. CANCER FREE!!! | No apples and onion's for me, please...but an old fashioned blueberry and rosewater pudding could make the threat! Besides...I have the book with "Little House Recipes". Vanesa.

| The pudding looks really good. I'd probably just make a vanilla sauce though. I got rosewater once, probably the first year we homeschooled, for an early American recipe. It was disgusting! I can see why vanilla, once it became available, quickly replaced rosewater as a flavoring! | |

Well: I for one, I like rosewater. Eastern recipes (for example, Armenian nes) has a lot of rosewater on them. I think that the problem with rosewater is that peple puts too much of it int deserts, and then the whole thing becomes disgusting, since it's a little like being eating something wet with perfume! eww No really, it's good. My grandmother used to make a similar dish. Now that I think of it her house was on a farm in Fort Kent, Maine and it resembled the big woods!!!! “I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder
