| This week's Spotlight is on one of our most active members - Krissy! If you've found your way to the playground, you've most likely had the opportunity to "meet" her. If not - here's your chance!
How did you get interested in LHOTP? I don't really remember. The show started before I was born, and ended when I was still too young, so I think I just found it on TV and watched the re-runs on TV. The show kind of reminds me of RTA. I enjoyed watching shows from different periods.
Which came first for you: the books or the TV series? The show did...I have the books. Maybe I shall give them a read one day.
How often do you watch the TV series? Well, I just re-watched the whole thing from the DVDS I was able to buy. The odd day when bored I will watch on Youtube.
Have you watched other productions of LH? If so, did you like them? Nope. But it would be nice to.
Did you get to see the LHOTP musical with Melissa Gilbert? Nope.
Do you have a favorite character? Laura. I like how she fights for what she wants and not gives up.
Do you believe that the moral lessons that Little House taught helped to make you a better person? Yes! They teach you to have faith during bad times. That things can get better. Teach to not give up on dreams...go for it. To be honest. It teaches you that you don't need a whole lot of money to be happy. I think it teaches you to try to get along with people who may not be like nice all the time. AKA Mrs Olsen. lol
Is there an episode that stands out in your mind as a favorite? Hmm. I like a lot of them from the first seasons when the girls are small. Like the one about the bully. I liked how at the end all the kids just stood up for themselves and told him off. Just liked the ones when the family helped during the hard times and worked together. It's really hard to really pick. They are all good. (Some I find boring)
Do any of the episodes move you to tears? If so, why? The one when Carrie falls into the well, I love how the whole town comes together to help save her. It must be such a painful time. I so felt for Ma. Glad she was saved in the end. If you work together and listen to each other and stay calm things can work out.
Who do you most relate to? I think Mary. I was quiet/shy. Llike her. Never really got into trouble. I think I was a book worm like her. I always done what i was told....
Where were you born? I was born in Canada.
How many states/places have you lived in? I've always lived in the same city. (Just 2 other houses before this.)
How many people are in your family? Just me and my mom and dad. I'm an only child. I would of had a younger sister but my mom lost the baby.
Have you ever been married?/Are you married? Nope and nope.
Do you have children? Nope.
Do any others in your family share your affection for Little House on the Prairie and Laura Ingalls Wilder’s work? My mom likes it. She watched the dvds with me. (Some of them.)
Have you met any of the cast members? Nope.
Do you own anything Little House related? Just the books and dvds.
Have you met any of the board members? Nope. Maybe one day.
What are some things that you enjoy doing to relax? Reading. Coming online. Watching TV. listening to music.
What season do you like best? Spring, summer, autumn or winter? Summer 4 sure.
What season were you born in? Winter.
What is your favorite holiday? Christmas
What has been your biggest challenge? Not giving up on my dreams. Trying to remain positive on stuff, & getting over my quietness along with my shyness.
What are some of your best memories? Playing at my grandmother's house with my cousins and going during summer to visit her in the country.
How did you find this board? I think I found it on a Anne of green gables site.(Don't remember which one)
What is one of the things you like best about our LH board? The people are nice.
Were you shy or outgoing as a child? Shy for sure.
What did you want to be when you were growing up, and did that pan out? Um. An actress. But I'm too shy for that. I just enjoyed being in plays in school lol
What was your first pet?My first pet was my dog. He died in 2009. I still miss him. He was such a sweet dog. Aside from the annoying barking.lol
Did you go to your prom? If so, what was the theme & style of the time? Nope. I never gone. My friends did not go either.

Thanks for taking the time to let us get to know you better, Krissy!

| Hi, Krissy! I enjoyed a lot reading your profile. It's really interesting...You were the kind of girl I was when a child...rather shy and relating to Mary more than to Laura. I wished to be an actress too, but I couldn't because of my shyness. Happily, I could dance Argentinian folk dances in public, since I wouldn't speak while dancing ...It's easier! Oh, if you have Laura's books , please read them! They are ALL great. Vanesa. | |

| I loved RTA too but LHOP is my all time favourite show. Great to see another Canadian, we should get together sometime. We are both in the greater Toronto area, aren't we? Too bad there aren't anymore RTA reunions we could meet at. | |

| Great to learn more about you, Krissy. I'm sorry to hear that your mom lost a baby. That's tough.
Like you and Marilyn, I loved RTA. I own some episodes on tape, but they are too expensive to buy on DVD.
Being shy and quiet isn't necessarily a bad thing. Because you don't spend as much time talking, you have time to really listen to people. That can be very helpful.
Thanks for sharing.

| It's nice to get to know you better, Krissy. The episode where Carrie falls into the well is the one that always moves me to tears as well.
My mom got me the complete series of books maybe 5-6 years ago and I've read all the books at least twice, I love them so much.

That's good.I guess i should read them.Altho i feel like im too old.lol I sure would like to think people would help out like that, but the world has changed so much, so sometimes you wonder. I'm 42 and still love the books. I had The Little House on the Prairie book as a child, but could never get into it then. I didn't appreciate them, or finish an entire book until I was an adult.
