Today is the 36th anniversary of the sinking of The Edmund Fitzgerald, just north of Whitefish Point on Lake Superior. Some of the crew were very young men - only 20 years old....and some were in their 60s, and were probably grandpas. Gordon Lightfoot wrote this song as a tribute to the men who lost their lives when the Edmund Fitzgerald went down on November 10, 1975. It has always brought tears to my eyes, anyway, but the end of this video was especially moving to me when it started to list the names and faces of the twenty-nine lives that ended that day.
