WOODSTOCK, Ga. - A wild turkey has been stopping traffic in Woodstock. The turkey has made his home on Main Street. The community seems to give him a wide berth and have accepted him as one of their own
The turkey is creating a buzz in Woodstock, especially since he seems to have a thing for police cars, pecking at their tires or chasing them down the street.
“I don't know what it is, but the Woodstock police will come by and he'll know it's a police car and he'll go straight after it,” said Jeff Cady.
Local businesses have gotten familiar with him. He apparently likes to check things out at a local auto shop.
“He's a peeping Tom, he likes coming through and he'll peek into the doors, into the bays and see what's going on,” said Randy Gable.
Across the street, Phillip Harris says every morning when he gets to work he calls for the bird.
At times police have even had to shut down the road so the turkey doesn't get hurt, but people around Woodstock don't call him a nuisance, they say they like their friend. Some call the turkey Tom, while others have dubbed him Bob.
Nothing seems to ruffle his feathers -- even the fact that Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
People who take that route to and from work, often update their Facebook pages on whether the traffic is stopped as the turkey struts its way across the street.
The turkey even has his own Facebook page.
