| Laura's new friend amelia is very ashamed of her father cause he is overweight. He works in the blind school and well loved by the children. “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it... Yet.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables | |

| Words & actions Can be very hurtful.Sometimes we don't know how we act/talk can be hurtful. I think it was unkind of the daughter to not want to be seen in public with her father or not want people to know he was. I do understand that it must of been hurtful for her to have kids make fun of her father's weight. She should have been more supportive.but iam glad in the end things turned around.Happy ending. “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it... Yet.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables | |

| Laura learns a valuable lesson in this one. Caroline lets her know how disappointed in her she is and lets her know that just because she didn't know the man she was making fun of was her friend's father didn't make it OK. | |

That's a good point. She sure did, so true......remember Nels sister. The fat lady in the circus..that was sad too “I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder

| Laura sure did learn a lesson. When she told Caroline she wasn't the only one who made fun of Mr.Bevins, Caroline told her she knew better than to use an excuse like that. | |

| I liked that Caroline said that..any young children watching, many thinking the same thing, hear the truth.
I loved Mr. Bevins and felt the bias toward his weight was a bit much, but in some ways, that exists today also.
I watched this tonight and just realized his daughter was in "Little Women" also...lots of recycled actors but probably not a noticeable when weeks apart. She had pretty hair,I don't know why they had her wear a wig for the other episode, just at the end would have been fine.

| The girl who played Amelia wasn't the girl in Little Women. Rachel Lonagaker who played Aimee on The Waltons played the little girl with the blonde wig. Julie Ann Hadock who played Cindy in Season 1 of The Facts Of Life played Amelia. | |

| I'm often surprised when Laura does or says something that is so wrong - in this case making fun of an overweight man - even when she is contrite and regretful afterwards. Caroline sure put her in her place.
The same in a previous episode when she was unkind to a dog.
I guess I forget that she wasn't a paragon of virtue, just a normal child growing up.

| I did like this episode because of it showing that a person is more than their outward appearance. The father and daughter story was so poignant and it was a sweet episode. Julie Ann Haddock did a great job as Amelia. Another episode that pulled major heartstrings! Of course I loved that they worked the blind school and Adam and Mary into the storyline, the scene where he jokingly yells that he loves Mrs. Ingalls' fried chicken was funny as well as him sharing a sweet romantic moment with Mary. I loved when those happened as they didn't have very many of them throughout the show's run. | |
