The day after Christmas is always our day to go see a movie. We're seeing Sherlock Holmes, but the one I really want to see is the new Steven Speilberg movie, War Horse. I am a sucker for a good horse movie, and this one looks great and is getting good reviews.

I saw Sherlock Holmes Friday night......with my "friend" and it is very good.....just don't take (or let anyone with you) bathroom breaks, cuz then you have to play catch up to fill them in on what they missed....
We were talking about War Horse, because it is supposed to be really good.....a fiction story written about a true time period......

We loved Sherlock Holmes! I liked the first, but I think this one was much better actually.
Sounds like I'm going to have to bring a box of kleenex to War Horse, but that's probably true of most horse stories, am I right?! Cheryl, Carol, & Rhonda, how about we meet up to see it. I can't find anyone who wants to go with me.

WAR HORSE! YES! I have a huge collection of horse movies so I have to see this one too. Clay made fun of me the other night for standing right in front of the tv like a kid when they were showing the advertisement for it.

I saw Wild Hearts in 1991 I believe. I was babysitting three kids and Clay and I decided to take them to the movies. The youngest, a little girl named Anna was 5 at the time. In the middle of the movie the film just stopped. Anna looked up at Clay and said " Mr. Clay, could you please go fix their big TV?" They fixed it before the kids got restless thank goodness! It was a great movie.
Here are the horse related movies that I have: The Black Stallion The Man of Snowy River Moondance Alexander Second Chances Flicka Flicka 2 Dreamer

No I don't have Sylvester nor have I seen it. I looked online awhile back to buy it, but only found it on VHS. I prefer now dvds. I will find it sometime though. Gotta get Clay on the lookout for Melissa Gilbert movies......MOTHER'S DAY!

Well, I saw it. And I have to say, the jury is still out. I liked it, but I'm kind of shocked it's getting so much critical buzz. It is VERY sappy, I must say. And quite slow, really. I did enjoy it, but there were things about it that could have been SO much better. I think it's because it's a Steven Spielberg movie that it's getting critical acclaim.
One of my FB friends said she didn't cry at all, so I thought I was safe. But, no such luck. There is a scene that was very tense and made me cry. Man, I hate crying in theaters.
Again, this was good, just not great, in my opinion. Certainly not on the level of Seabiscuit, to be worthy of such high accolades that Seabiscuit deserved to be. It would cheapen Seabiscuit's honor, if this was actually nominated for an Oscar.

Oh good! I hope you enjoy it Rhonda! I DID enjoy it...I don't want to give the wrong impression. I just expected more from S.S., I guess. Maybe I'm being too hard on it...can't wait to be able to discuss it with you!

I still want to go see it...but since you've told me its sappy that means I cant take Clay. He just hates stuff that TOO sappy. He'll bug me to death saying he needs popcorn or chocolate or a drink or that he needs to pee.....lol I guess I'll go alone.....How I wish in times like these I could just zap one of you here to go with me.

Me too, Gin, me too. But yeah, Bill & Clay are a lot alike and Bill would have hated this movie. Go see it, Gin---it is definitely worth seeing, especially for us horse lovers. What did you think, Rhonda?
