Who remembers this show? I always thought it was hilarious that people who were clever enough to build remote control robots would channel all their energies into beating the innards out of other robots.

I never saw the show - but out at the campground, there used to be a BIG competition every summer with "Battle Boats". The people would spends hundreds of hours, and a large amount of money, and pour themselves into creating these spectacular remote-controlled boats - and then they'd come to the lake from all over the United States to demolish them! The building part I can totally understand. There would be a nice sense of accomplishment with that...but to build it specifically to destroy them?? I never quite understood that.
