| I haven't been able to post as much as usual, since things have been so busy around here, but now that things are winding down, you just may all get pretty sick of me, so I thought I'd warn ya! I finished my first year of school. (It'll still take me a couple of years to finish at the rate I'm going, lol) I took 5 classes this year, and much to my suprise, I managed somehow to get all A's. I have no idea how I pulled that off since I figured that my old brain was probably so clogged with cobwebs that I'd be lucky to pull off the C's that I need to get my degree. But it sure has given me some much needed confidence to keep on going. I know there will be some rough roads ahead, but as long as I at least get what I need to get my degree, I'll be okay. I can't tell you how happy I am having finally worked up the nerve to go back to school. I'm loving it so far. For now, I have a break until the end of August. Which I am looking forward to summer vacation and spending time with my kids. They get out of school the middle of June. I had my dreaded jury duty last week. That ended up going okay. My dad was able to get the kids off to school in the morning for me and picked my son up for me after school. I started out crammed into a room with 250 other people. There really pack 'em in there like a can of sardines. I went out to lunch with 3 other women who also had been called for jury duty for the first time, that was nice. So, when it was going on 3 o'clock and they still hadn't called my number, I was feeling pretty sure that I would be sent home and that my jury duty would be complete for at least 12 months. Bad thought. Just about the time I had thought that, they had called my number. So, I'm freaking out thinking, "Just great. Now I am going to have to find someone to help me with the kids for who knows how long. With my luck I'll get stuck on a trial that last for months. etc. etc. etc." *LOL* So, I get hauled off to a courtroom with 49 others, and they call 14 people to the jury box. Not me. The judge and lawyers go through the list of questions and all, let one juror go after another and I keep thinking every time, "Ok. Here goes. I just know they are going to call my number now." But then the judge finally said, "Okay. I think we have our jury now. The rest of you are excused." So, I ran to my car thinking "I'm free!" Yeah, til next time, lol. I seriously would not care if I did not have to worry about my kids though. It may even be interesting, but just not til my kids are older! Kelsey just had her dance recital over the weekend. She was in 2 dances and she did such a good job. She made me really proud. She was in lyrical ballet and hip hop. Next year she wants to try tap as well. She just got an electric guitar and has started guitar lessons. I asked Tim if he can't find a band to his liking to play in, if his plan to to create his own band with his kids, because I am not having anymore, lol. He recently got Devin drums and Devin will be starting his lessons this summer. Anyhow, he said that I didn't have to have any more kids, just that he was going to get me a bass guitar and have me take lessons. That is not going to happen, lol.l I haven't worked since the end of February, so come fall, I get to go job-hunting. I am hoping to find a place that is willing to be flexible with my school schedule and all. I'll probably wait until mid-September to start looking because I want to get Kelsey a chance to get used to her new school, since her elementary school is closing due to low enrollment, rather than make too many new changes for her all at once. She's gotten used to coming home for lunch pretty often since I have not been working and I want to at least let her have a chance to make a few friends before she has to start staying at lunch everyday. Other than that, I am just getting some spring cleaning done around here. Very much needed. We'll be painting the kids room over Memorial Day weekend, so I'll be doing lots of tossing out. But I will have more free time these days and am hoping to be able to get here more often. So, that's about it. Sorry about the book! | |

- That's really awesome, Pam! I'm so glad your first year was such a great experience for you. And also that you ended up not having to do the jury duty, LOL. My boyfriend had a similar experience last year - it was getting close to time to leave when they finally called his number, only he actually did get put on a jury - the only one out of the group of 14 he was in that they kept, and he ended up being on a trial for a week, not getting done til late on the last night with deliberation. I've been lucky so far with not getting the dreaded notice - of course, now that I've said that, I will probably get one tomorrow! LOL. But anyway I'm rambling, enjoy your summer off with your kids, you deserve it! :)
Oh no! Poor guy! *LOL* Thanks again, everyone. | |

| I enjoy your posts Pam because I can see the picture of Patrick Dempsey!! Glad your school year went well for you. Got picked for jury duty about a year ago and thought they were going to pick me for an actual jury but they had their 12 and I was free. Some of the stuff people came up with during questioning to get out of jury duty was hysterical. Those were the exact people who got picked to serve!! | |

| I like my posts for that reason too, Kathy. :haha: I know, I thought some of the reasons that people used for excuses were pretty funny too. It took almost an hour for them to get there 14 people because of all of the excuses people were making. I thought for sure they were going to run out of perspective jurors! | |

| Great going Pam. You sure have been busy. I'm glad you're happy about school. I hope to one day finish off my degree too. Hopefully things will slow down once the kids are out of school--yeah right. LOL!
Thanks for checking in. I think I'm going to have to call you Wonder Woman from now on.

I am not registered to vote so I won't get called. Why don't people like to get jury duty? I think it would be interesting depending on what the case was though. If it was something that wasn't about violence then it woudln't be that bad. Like maybe if someone stole something.

| In Michigan they used to pick jurors from pools of registered voters, but now they pick from pools of licensed drivers. They figured people might not register to vote in order to avoid jury duty, but not many will give up driving. | |
