I think I've told you before, but my Emily was quite a cat-loving dog. When our first cat died of cancer, she mourned so deeply that we got another cat specifically for her. She'd stopped eating, and all she would do was cry at the back door. Once we brought her home a kitten, she was fine again.

Lisa. I'm glad you were able to get Emily a new friend after that. Amazing how dogs grieve just like humans do.

I just can't imagine having only 'one' dog now. We did for a long time---Dugan, our Shepard, was an 'only child' for most of his 11 years. But now that we have Chelsey & Jenna, and we see the interaction and what they do for each other (physically and emotionally), I think we'll always want to have two. Dogs are pack animals, after all! (and I would love a cat---maybe with our next dog(s)---these two would have one for lunch. ).

Wish mine would do that. I would have to tranquilize them both! The only time they are close is when another animal is in the yard and they are both looking out the window at the "intruder". One will start running from window to window and the other is alerted til they are side by side. One of these days I will get that picture.
