On a recent math test that my husband made, he had an elaborate equation so that the students could use it to answer some questions about polar bear population on an island. I thought you would appreciate the answer to one of the questions by one student.

Question: Solve the equation to find the number of years required to have 50 polar bears on the island.

Answer: This all depends on how many are sent to the Orchid by the Dharma Initiative. If enough are sent they will turn the frozen wheel making time not the question. The question should be when during space time can 50 polar bears exist on the island?
