INteresting, Indeed! My father always dreamed to go to Easter Island when he was a teen, and had even plotted wuth a friend to take the only ship that could get there from Patagonia Region in Argentina (he's from there). But it was too expensive and he must remain in Easter Usland some SIX MONTHS to wait the next ship to get there...Argentinian Patagonia's coast are over Atlantic Ocean, and Easter Island is at the Pacific Ocean...and somewhat far away...
