| MANITOWOC — Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie on TV’s “Little House on the Prairie” will be a guest at the 1870s Pinecrest Village Fair on Aug. 11 at Pinecrest Historical Village, west of Manitowoc.
Arngrim will give a presentation on her life and the classic television show at 11 a.m. and will sign autographs throughout the day. She’ll even make an appearance in the dunk tank at 2:30 p.m., all for the good cause of helping preserve history.
The event will re-create the excitement of an 1870s county fair with animals, music, games and contests from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The day’s festivities will include old-fashioned fair games and contests such as hoop rolling, a three-legged race, gunny sack race and pie baking. Those interested in bringing in pies for the pie-judging contest are asked to call the Manitowoc County Historical Society at (920) 684-4445 to register. A panel of five people will judge the contest, including Arngrim.
A dunk tank also will be available for visitors to dunk local community members including WCUB’s Bryan Lundberg at 11:30 a.m., Mayor Justin Nickels at noon Manitowoc fourth-district alderman Jim Brey at 12:30 p.m., Thrivent Financial’s Gary Keesling at 1 p.m. and Manitowoc County Historical Society President Kathy Kowalski at 1:30 p.m.
No carry-in items for autographing will be allowed unless it is Arngrim’s published book. No “Little House on the Prairie” items will be autographed. The books, which contain adult subject matter, cost $16, including tax, and can be reserved by calling La De Da Books at (920) 682-7040 by Aug. 1. Reserved books must be pre-paid. A portion of the proceeds will go to preserving local history.
Autographed photos will be available for purchase at Pinecrest on the day of the event.

| It sounds fun, but it's not fair she only wants to sign up her new book, pushing people to purchase it. Of course, she wants to sell the book,. but all the same... Vanesa. | |

| I was thinking "that sounds like fun" and felt the same way about the book, BUT that is something other authors do too...I'd just forgo the autograph. She isn't there because she just loves LHOP and everyone, she also is making a living and if she just sold her book there and autographed anything, most wouldn't buy it.
I live on the east coast and although we have a place set up like the 1800's to visit and they will have activities, nothing this event.

| I think she has a stop in Washington and then France.
At least they are giving you a heads-up about the autographs although I would hope if someone brought her "Nellie" doll to be autographed, she isn't too disappointed if she says No. Alison isn't stupid and she's surviving doing various things. It helps that there aren't many others from the show that do the same thing. Who would have thought 30 years later, the show would have a hold on people the way it does?
I talked to a woman at work, she is married, about 50, loves hard rock/metal, cop shows, and doesn't seem like the LHOP type at all. I mentioned one day that I collapsed when I got home after a long day and just watched L.House for an hour.....she said, "Oh was it the one about the well?, that was good". She watches it too, many evenings, it balances her often chaotic life and I just smiled. Michael had no idea I think how it would capture hearts, even more than Bonanza, Highway, etc.
