Dave, Dave, Dave...how will I ever get any work done with pictures like these? People are going to start wondering what I'm smiling about! Not that I'm complaining...
One of the episodes on Insp today is Season 8's "Growin' Pains." A whole episode featuring Matt...& Jason Bateman! I will be in heaven tonight... (Two incredible actors, btw!).

Smiling Is A Good Thing!
Great Episode....Even Albert had a Hard Time Talking James into Coming Back Home...... But, as usual, he got the job done! Charles Wasn't Worried......

Yep...Albert met his match with James! He even had to convince him he'd take any punishment given!

Poor Albert! James uses to be a little stupid time to time. Albert wouldn't deserve to take his punishment.

I know, right? James totally deserved to be punished here. He took Albert's razor when Albert specifically told him not to; he then broke the razor; then he stole another one; then he ran away! HELLO! Of course, he wasn't punished at all...they came home and all was forgiven.

Rotten little degenerate! Albert never got away with anything! Or did he?

Albert? Get away with something? Naaaah...
Actually, he did...in "Goodbye Mrs. Wilder." He fooled Mrs. Oleson with his "socks." The evil grin on his face was priceless!

Last night I saw one of my favorite 'Albert' scenes ever. In Season 8's "The Legacy." In fact, I'll talk about it over there...

Does ANYONE by any chance have the COMPLETE episode of Matt Labyorteaux's "This is Your Life?" I'm dying to see it!
It's so sweet how he chokes up here. The love & admiration Matt & Michael Landon had for each other is obvious...
Oh my gosh, I am weeping over here. I have never seen this before!! What a find---thanks so much for posting that! I can't believe this aired way back when and I knew nothing about it. It was always so obvious that Michael and Matt had such a unique and special bond. Michael was right about the talent he saw in this kid. No kidding, I haven't seen anyone else like him on TV ever, and certainly no one else has been able to make me cry like Matt. How I wish we could have seen more of him---he was better than the things he was handed after the show.

I agree. Matthew deserved more important acting work that the one he did after the show. He was (and I suppose he still IS) a great actor. He could make you cry or laugh and this is the way a true actor shows how good he could be.

Vanessa hit it right with this! "He could make you cry or laugh and this is the way a true actor shows how good he could be."
When Albert switched in into what I called his "Winoka Mode" it could be absolutely hilarious. And Matt could play it to the hilt.
1.Selling the books to Mrs Olsen telling her that there was a part in the book where Caroline was naked. 2.Getting room and Board in "Men Will Be Boys" after telling the landlady he and Andy were recently orphaned. 3.Raising money for Mary and Adam to take a trip telling a lady that he and Laura lost their parents. 4.Selling the honey to Mrs Olsen, while all the time making her think she was getting the best of him. 5.Stealing the food in The Odyssey on the train. "Pa wouldn't approve". 6.Scaring Willy and Nellie to death with the Horns in The Craftsman. 7. Changing the type to 100% off in Harriets Happenings knowing full well the only way to get to her was in the pocketbook.
And when you watch him cry it made you cry, because they were real emotions. Matt had a natural in-born sweetness about him that is a rare thing to see on screen. And he had it right up until the end when he looked at Laura and said: Well Big Sister, "I'm home to stay if you'll have me"". And the all time killer, " Asking Pa if it was "Too Much to Ask" when he wanted to be adopted.
I think the sad thing about the rest of his acting after LHOTP is that he never had another vehicle to sink his teeth into and show his real talent.
There will never be another Matt! I think we were lucky to have him while we did.

And what I never understood was.....why not?? How is it possible that producers/directors didn't see in him what his LH audience did. It's the strangest thing. I suppose the same could be said of Melissa Sue Anderson though....she never really found the right vehicle after LH either, and she was an amazing young actress.

I'm not sure about Matt, but I know for a fact MSA didn't want to continue her acting career.

She was marvelous and REALLY got good towards the end of her part on LHOTP.

That's probably it. I know she did some 'movies of the week' and a couple of horror flicks, but probably everything paled in comparison after having done Little House, and then her interest dissipated.
