| When I was at the store yesterday, a little bitty boy (he looked like he'd just turned two) went missing. This was the second time in a week that his mother had lost the little fella in the same store. The whole store staff stopped everything, and everyone looked for him. The little cutie was found, very contentedly looking at the computer game display in the electronics department. The mother's reaction to his being found?? When he was placed in her arms, she said "Where have you been, stupid??". It made me furious and heartbroken at the same time. My first reaction was "Okay.....you're an ADULT, and lost this little fella for the second time in a week. So...........who's stupid?" (I know, I know. That isn't nice at all. You can all throw cyber stuff at me if you want. . . . But really - she only had the one little cutie there with her. How hard is it to hold his hand or put him in a cart??) And then my heart broke that she seemed so uncaring about this little boy. I wanted to talk to her, and tell her to cherish every moment with that little boy. He was so precious. Of course, I'm kind of emotional about anything dealing with children right now, anyway. But that woman just . . . . . . Well, "ARGH!!!" says it pretty well for me. | |

| I could not agree more on this. I saw the same thing happen years ago. The little boy was under 3. The mother went to check out and realized he was gone. She ask her older son(around 10) I though you was watching him. He was found ans was ok. Some parents make me so mad. It just makes me wonder what kinda supervision these kids are gettng at home. |

| Aww poor little boy. I'm glad he was found but his mother should be more responsible. Calling him stupid? I don't know why some people become parents... | |

| I agree she was dumb. I remeber when my daughter who is almost 16 now disappeared in wal-mart it scared me and I had all three of my daughters with me at that time well after searching for her with the other two helping I finally went to the cash register and was gonna page her when she came walking up. I aske where she had been and she said looking at the toys, well to make a long story short I scolded her for not telling me where she was then made her ride in the shopping cart the rest of the time we were there. Sounds a little strict but she never ran off again and to this day she tells me where she will be in the store. |

| I remember getting lost once. It was awful but I had my brother with me so at least I wasn't alone. My little brother got lost once. He wandered all the way down the hall of the mall looking at the fish tanks. When we found him he was at the opposite end of the mall than where he left us. Not too long ago my SIL and I got dropped off at the door of the mall and mom came in and took off, we couldn't find her. It took an hour. We still tease her and tell her that if she isn't good and stick with us, we'll put her in a cart. | |

| We have a arcade/play room at our Wal-Mart and I can't tell you how many times kids have wandered in there without letting their parents know where they were going. Calling the child stupid was unnecessary but a child wandering off can happen so easily. You get distracted checking out, etc., and kids don't think twice about walking away from the parents. My suggestion to parents is that if you have a child that likes to wander and he is small, say three or four years old, put them in the cart with you so you can keep tabs on them. I still put my five year old in the cart with me when I'm shopping. | |
