AT&T or Verizon?

I am planning a trip to the USA next summer, (Ie June, July) and am thinking about getting a prepaid mobile phone while I am over in the USA, so, what do y'all reccomend, from experience, AT&T or Verizon?

I've only been with AT&T..so far so good.

I would probably say AT&T. I've had experience with them. So that would be my choice.


Where are you planning on going? Do you have any specific places in mind yet?

OK. Ignore what I said about AT&T. That is when I had a contract with them. I wasn't thinking right.

Guess what? I actually USE TracPhone now. I can't believe I didn't even think about that!!

Did a little bit of Googling on Tracfone and apparently they aren't the best?

I've never had any problems with TracPhone, and we've been using them for years.

We were in Florida in May and it was really hot, so I'm sure it'll be REALLY hot when you're there.

Well, it is what I use because I refuse to have a contract with anyone. And amazingly, I use it - have for years - and I can't even spell it right! I am really ditzy today! But I have never had a problem with them. My phone has an automatic feature that doubles the minutes everytime I add more on. I know they sell a separate card that gives you the same deal (minutes will automatically be doubled), but I think you have to buy that card every time that you want to add more minutes and you want to double them. I am not entirely sure because, like I said, my phone has that feature built into it.

So, other than Texas, you are looking to go to the "deep" South? I've been to Georgia. Once. There were some things that I missed out on that I would like to go back to see. Anytime people say that they want to see the south, I always mention Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee. I LOVE Tennessee!! I like those southern states the best. Of course, anytime anyone says that they are coming to America, even though they are never going to be anywhere near it, I HAVE to promote Wisconsin as a possiblity for them to see when they get here! Too far for you to visit, though, with your plans. But I just thought I would mention it just because.

Yup, Deep South, that's where all my friends are, really. Oh I'd love to go to Wisconsin, and the Northwest, I'm afraid not this time though...

It might depend upon where you're going, but I believe nationwide Verizon has much more coverage than At&T does. If you go to the Verizon Wireless website, it shows you a coverage map. I believe AT &T does as well. I know I get service in a lot more places than my friends with other providers do, and we've always been on Verizon for that reason.
