I am a BIG fan of movie music. I like the songs from musicals, theme songs from a film and, of course, various film scores.
Here are 3 favorites of mine (they are all composed by James Horner):
I am always an emotional wreck after this one because I CANNOT (not mentally nor emotionally) handle this movie.
"Field of Dreams" and "Glory" are two of my all-time favorite films. One is number 1 on my list and one is number 4. And their scores are also on my all-time favorites lists for movie music.
I debated whether I put this category under movies or music. Music was the more appropriate choice. I think!
Do any of you have any film music that you absolutely love?

Awww. I love The Notebook music too. AND Far & Away....never could figure out why that got such bad reviews---great movie, great music.
I have to say probably my favorite soundtrack of all time is Somewhere in Time. John Barry lost his parents shortly before composing for this movie (which Jane Seymour had begged him to do, on a very little budget), and he said it was just the perfect catalyst to pour all his emotions.
My second favorite...Dances with Wolves. John Barry again...he is my favorite composer.

Haha! Ironically, the Andy theme (the normal whistled version, that is, not... this ) isn't among my top ten TV theme songs.
However, this gives me an idea for a new thread...

Wow, you guys have come up with some good ones. And Beckie, the theme from ET makes me cry too, basically because it just makes me so nostalgic! I was 13 years old when that came out, and I saw it SIX times in theater! 6!! That is a lot of times for a 13 year old kid. But that movie did something to me, I tell ya. And I was basically in love with Elliot....that probably had a little bit to do with it.

These are some pretty good ones so far. But this one:

As far as I am concerned, this is the single greatest movie theme music of all-time. And yes, I know they want to separate the "new" Superman from this one in the new movie, but it does kill me a little to know that I won't hear Williams' score in the new movie.
As long as we're on the topic of John Williams, how about this one?:
I can honestly say that this is an extremely close second to the "Superman" theme. I absolutely MUST get the "Indiana Jones" series on Blu-Ray! But my Indiana Jones obsession is something that I won't go into right now.

I probably watched it on video over 100 times, lol. Elliot was my first celebrity crush. Probably even my first crush. I was like 4 years old, lol.

You can't have a movie theme thread without posting this masterpiece from Rocky. This is one of the most amazing and brilliant songs ever written. Gives me the chills. It make me want to pump my fists in the air and run up some steps, lol. About two minutes in I want to burst because it's so awesome. This song is kind of romantic too.

I have both CDs from Titanic. The music is so good! It really captures the feeling of the situations in the movie.

One of my favorite tv theme songs is from The Golden Girls. if I could sing, it would be a song I'd sing for my best friend
I also love the "Miami" song from The Golden Girls that Dorothy and Rose wrote when they entered a song-writing contest. I was able to visit Miami Beach in August, and the line from the song "blue skies, sunshine, white sand by the mile!" is very true!
