So we have this dance lady who comes to our school every Friday. She is hired to teach our first and second graders dancing, and is not licenced to be with students alone so the teachers have to stay. I have been fine with this since it initially started.
For the past two weeks she has been planning things that are either (what I think) inappropriate or just too over their heads.
Last week it was just too over their heads... She had them be clay, sculpter and model ... after doing one (ONE !!!) demonstration. I let it roll to see what would happen and then I had to stop it when kids were hitting eachother to get their bodies to move or the models were doing poses that were just too intricate to mold.
THis week she decides to teach us... ready for this... the Zombie dance from Thriller. Michael Jackson Thriller. Initially, I don't have a problem with this, but I know the area and I know the parents who live in the area. They keep their kids from going to school on Halloween because it is Halloween. Our school does not celebrate Halloween, but we do Storybook Character Day instead ( with the basis being you have to dress up as a character from a story book).
Our parents are (intrestingly) very religius and uberly anti paganism. (I say intrestingly because their behaviors are so NOT religious, it's not even funny!) I just know that parents are gonna freak and I don't want to be a part of it.
The funny thing... when we met her and her boss, her boss assured us that she would not do anything or wear anything inappropriate.
But, just because it isn't the Lumbada or Dirty Dancing, doesn't mean it's automatically appropriate.
