| hello all, I was wondering if anybody else here besides me finds Percival totally annoying??!! He was very opinionated and controlling. What did Nellie ever see in him! If I was Harriet I think I would have knocked him on the ground! LOL He was my least favorite character. Well I also didn't really like Nancy. Percival is a major | |

| I liked him because they made him more dominant than Harriet. That's why Nels looks at him admiringly when he tells her off. No one really does tell her off in this show. And he told Nellie off too, but he also said she didn't need a store to get a husband, he saw through all the nastiness. I think Nellie liked him because he saw her as she could be and not as she was. She was far from perfect and so was he in some ways, but together they balanced.
We all have different taste, for me Mr. Garvey was irritating in a lot of the shows. I would have much rather spent time having dinner with Percival than him. To each his own. ; )

| I like Percival. I loved how he put Mrs.Oleson in her place. Nellie became a better person because of Percival. | |

Me too. Though it was accurate for the time period, he was such a chauvinist when it came to Alice. As for Percival, I guess I loved the chemistry between Steve Tracy and Alison Arngrim more than anything else. That said, Jewish people didn't have an easy time in America back then. He was forced to change his name so that he could find work. He also was a short man, so he probably took a lot of teasing as a kid and had to have a stronger personality in order to be taken seriously. And let's face it, Mr. Cohen was very opinionated. I'm sure some of that rubbed off.

| Well, Percival was brought in to save the restaurant, which was doomed to fail as long as Nellie tried to run it with her nasty attitude. Percival had to be brutally honest, and some of that may have come off as being nasty himself. | |

| Yes, it must have been hard being Jewish and I don't think they would have been as courteous with the mixed wedding, etc. but it was still nice to see them happy.
Mr. Garvey was "the times" and I think they made Charles the most progressive of them all. They hardly ever had a moment where he said, "No,you aren't doing that". Caroline worked, a lot, had to do the cooking, cleaning, washing, (with help) but he never acted like he was ignorant. Mr. Garvey would rather leave his family then have his wife work...that made sense.
I thought it was funny that Mrs. Oleson worked and no one thought she shouldn't. My beef was as hard as Caroline worked, the long hours, you never really saw the perks. Where was the extra money, she should have gotten food to take home with her instead of running home to cook. : )

| you didn't like my hubby eh?? ROFL He was always spending money on silly things that we didn't need I guess I do see all of your points about Percival putting Harriet and Nellie in their place. It was kind of mean when he made the remark about Harriet's weight. I was shocked to read somewhere that Steve Tracy died of aids at age 34. | |

| But she was trying to be "beautiful" for Nel's. LoL She was so mean, like she made her daughter, but I did like how Michael showed the two of them could be loving to each other. When she made the overcooked roast and conceded she couldn't cook, etc. and they took a walk together, you almost saw hope....that until the first shopper came in the store the next day. | |

I find it impossible to believe that anyone could think anyone could be to mean to that winch. Thare wasn't a person in that town that she didn't abuse at one time or another...... Yes, it might be mean to point out another person's faults or weakness, but her husband had called her fat also and she knew, as when she tried to diet and failed. Compared to the insults she called him, it was tame.

| Thanks. I think it's good to be honest with people.Sometimes you need to be a little mean to get your point across. “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it... Yet.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables | |

| I Did find him a bit annoying but at the same time I found him very funny! He just seems so tiny and funny sometimes! “It was a huge shock when it came and very excited“ This was the duchess of cambridges take on how she felt when William proposed during their official engagement interview with ITN reporter Tom Bradby. There was a real giggle at the end. Cute. | |
