It was cold and snowy out, and I was at my best friend's house. They lived on a farm, and I went over there Sundays after church, and would ride horses, and, of course, help with chores. We had to get the chores done first - so we got right to it, and were done, except for giving the cows some extra feed because it was so cold out. Was that horrid beast grateful that we'd come in the cold to give him extra food?? NO! He charged toward me and my friend! (We were in front of the gate. I think it was the gate he was charging toward, and not really US - but it had the same affect on me: affraid

) So, we jumped out of his path, and he raced out the gate, and down the road. It wasn't a BUSY road - but if you've ever been down a back country road, and seen how some of the farmers drive........It isn't the place for a cow to be!! I never knew that a cow could run so fast! Ruth and I ran after him for all we were worth - he took us off the road, and into mud puddles........back onto the road.......over hills.......By the time we finally caught up with him, I was so mad that I forgot that I was afraid of him! Ruth and I finally herded him back to her house - and by then it was time to get ready for evening service! :Hahaha: Wretched beast!! This was before I'd ever seen or heard of Anne of Green Gables - and several years later, when I saw Anne chasing that wretched cow, I immediately felt a kinship with her! :Hahaha:

Yes, I've toured a dairy farm - and helped out on one a couple of times.

(Up near the roof of the barn, there are wooden beams - the rafters. My best friend and I used to walk along them, and sometimes jump down into the grain wagon below. Huh?
