Fumes in the house Empty
PostSubject: Fumes in the house   Fumes in the house EmptyMon Feb 25, 2008 2:22 pm

For a couple of hours, our neighbors have been running a huge generator near our kitchen. Well, about an hour ago our carbon monoxide detector went off. You can smell the gas fumes from the generator all through the house. They're finally finished with the project that they were using the generator for, but the house still reeks of gas fumes. And the CO detector keeps going off. We're running a few fans (in February!) and have some windows open. But Mom and I still have a headache, and I'm feeling very dizzy. It'll pass, but I'd appreciate prayers that the fumes clear out quickly. In the meantime, I think I'll rest a little.

Do your neighbors know about this? I would tell them... mad
If you can.... get out of the house for a little while...

Do you think that rest is the best thing? I agree with Carol, get out of the house for awhile and let it air on it's own.

Savannah,
I'm worried about you. Are you okay? I hope that all of the fumes have left your house, and that you and your mom are okay. You should definitely talk to your neighbors about this. How dangerous!

Savannah, how scary! I agree, you should talk to your neighbors about this - it's not safe at all! How are you feeling?

Thank you all so much. We did end up having to leave the house. We talked to the neighbors, and they were able to move the generator, too. I still have a bit of a headache tonight, but I'm not dizzy anymore, and my fingers have stopped tingling. We had to open the whole house up, though. It's a good thing there was a heat wave today. grinsmiley It was around 30 degrees! I almost pulled out my short sleeved blouses.

Thanks again for your prayers and your concern.

Love,
Savannah

That's a relief, Savannah. I was a little worried when you said you wanted to rest. Thought maybe we'd have to send Gomer battlin' his way through the fumes... :shifty:

Wow, Savannah! I only read this post today, and I was very scared when you said that you wanted to rest, since this is the way you feel when you are intoxicated by gaz. I'm very relieved things are O.K now. I was realy worried about you. No

Vanesa.

{{{Vanesa}}} If my head hadn't hurt so much, I'd have thought to mention that if I did rest, the room I'd be resting in was well ventilated. But I was pretty foggy. I didn't end up lying down, though, because the fumes became so strong that I was afraid that my nap might become rather permanent.

I was very worried for my little animals, though. They're so much smaller. They seemed fine through the whole business, though. Didn't act strange, or as if they were ill.... ( Not one of them asked for a tylenol or anything. :shifty: )

Thank you again for your prayers, everyone. My head was pounding all through Tuesday. I don't know if that was just a coincidence, or residual affects from the fumes. But everyone is fine now.

Rob, it's such a relief to know that you would send Gomer to rescue me.

I must confess I'm relieved now, Savannah. And I'm happy knowing that your animals are O.K. Thumbsup
