O.K. We've seen a few stinkers lately and so I'm wondering what your disappointments are. Now the ones I list, everyone else might have loved them but they didn't work for me!
A couple of mine:

What? Sixteen candles and Forest Gump?! lol
Okay one of mine is ... Doctor Faustus
It stars Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor and this movie is so dumb... I actually didn't really watch it, but I fast fowarded my way through it. The music, the make up, the characters, it was so cheezy! I got a few good laughs out of it.... what where they thinking when they did this movie?!

Dead Poets Society. This is the one movie I wanted to see that my hubby--at the time boyfriend--didn't want to go to. It has to be the worse movie I have ever seen.

Is that the one Matt Damon & Ben Affleck wrote? Maybe I'm thinking of "Good Will Hunting."

legends of the fall was one of the worst films i've seen...the soundtrack and cinematography are absolutely beautiful, but the plotline gets more ridiculous as it moves along...if you need to see brad pitt and anthony hopkins together see meet joe black...
that's only my opinion...lots of people loved this film...

A River Runs Through It
:faint2: Three hours of fly fishing. That movie was so boring it made ME look interesting!
It could partly be, though, that I can't stand Brad Pitt.

I think that's Good Will Hunting. Dead Poets Society starred Robin Williams as an English professor at a private school. One of the main characters has an overbearing father who has plans for his son, but when the boy decides to pursue acting the father goes bullistic and the boy ends up killing himself. Robin Williams's character gets in trouble for his unorthodox teaching methods, but the boys stay committed to him; and when he is fired the boys make a display in the classroom. Honestly, the worst movie I have ever seen in my life.

O.K. I think that was one that starred Ethan Hawke.
One that my husband detests: the remake: "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." I admit it was stupid but seems the more I see it, it takes on a weird fascination for me! Totally weird acting by Depp, but it is so funny watching those kids get what's coming to them!

I've never read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I did see the original Willie Wonka movie with Gene Hackman. Not knowing what the book contains, it seems odd to me that the new version added all this backstory for Willie Wonka--like how he meets the umpa lumpas.
They did the same thing when they remade How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carey and I never saw the point behind it.

Was that the one with Gene Wilder...or before that?

the original one was with gene wilder as willy wonka....the one with johnny depp was closer to the actual story written by roald dahl....the back story about his dad, his obsession with candy and the brace though, cheryl, were added...how he meets the oompa loompas and the songs that they sing were the same as the book

Yep, Gene Wilder not Hackman. Whoops!

I'm with your hubby on that Misti.
I also hate the Jim Carey crossover animation movies, like the Grinch and The Cat in the Hat. Just painful to sit through.
Gosh, I'm thinking, but I just can't come up with movies! I'm sure I will, but I think it's a heck of a lot easier to come up with movies you like than dislike!
Oh, I have one my son said was way boring. Disney's Wall-E! I had heard it was good, but he thought it was ridiculous. I guess I won't both renting it now!

I also loved the movie "Dead Poets Society."
I think that one of the worst movies I ever saw was "The Island of Dr. Moreau," starring Marlon Brando. Man was that bad!!
One of my favorite movies is "Good Will Hunting." The acting by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Robin Williams is superb!!!!!!!!!
LOL!! I just thought of another one. "Dude, Where's My Car" was pretty stupid.

I agree with your son. My niece, Oliveah, wanted to watch it while I was babysitting her. So, I watched it with her. Well.....Actually, I watched about 10 minutes of it. The rest of the time I was cross stitching or sketching. I usually really enjoy the Disney movies when I watch them with the kids, but not that one.
Oh, and I totally agree about the Jim Carey thing, too.

Teresa, Good Will Hunting is way up there for me too.
Savannah, glad to hear you thought the same thing about Wall--E. Ok, definitely not renting it! Last I heard that was up for Golden Globe or something.
Ok, I just thought of two movies. I'm sure there will be plenty that disagree though. Pirates of the Carribean part 2 and 3. I really loved the first one, but the 2nd was annoying and the 3rd one was just unbearable for me.

Thanks for the info about Wall-E. That was one hubby wanted to see but we didn't. Now we won't have to. It's like the Kung Foo Panda. They wanted to see that, too and once our friend's rented it and we watched it, we were glad we didn't waste our money.
Amy, I have to say that I have never sat thru any of the Pirates of the Carribean movies. I just can't get into them.
And, my sis raved about the "Lord of the Rings" triology, but that is something else I couldn't get into!

Oh, another one that was a total waste of time was Far and Away. :gross: I've never been able to stomach Tom Cruise, anyway. But, a friend wanted to watch it, so we watched. Actually, I didn't watch the whole thing. I read for about half the movie.

My girls love Drake and Josh. Personally, I think it's a dumb show that once again shows the parents as idiots.

Oh my gosh, are you ready for this?! I just watched that two weeks ago!! I own it and I LOVE it! LOLOL! I know, it didn't get the greatest ratings, but Gene Siskel liked it too! Great cinematography, and I loved Nicole in it. I even loved Tom in it, BUT, that was back in the day I actually liked him.
And LOL, Misti, I'm crazy about the Lord of the Rings trilogy!! :haha:
