Online police calls

Tonight I found a website that lets you listen in on police and fire department broadcasts from practically anywhere in the country. It's at www.radioreference.com. Click on "live scanners" under the "live audio" option, and you can choose any county from the U.S. map. You can eavesdrop on the NYPD... or on local cops in small towns all over the country. It's interesting!

Pretty interesting!
So far around my city there is a stab victim.... a trailer that caught on fire.... a motor vehicle accident (vehicle & pedestrian)... and then a sound that sounded like Morse code.

Too bad I didn't see this last night. Maybe we could have been alerted to the fact that the cops were coming to the party we were at because Tim's band was too loud! It was Devin's debut performance on drums too. What a story to tell!

:Hahaha: HOW FUNNY PAM!!!! OH, the stories I could tell about the police showing up at my place because of a band playing too loud.......My oldest, BJ, was ALWAYS having their practices at the house.....and the neighbors were ALWAYS calling the police on us......The drummer's mom, worked for the City, so she told the cops to leave 'her' boys' alone......

I can't comment on this, because I'm one of the people who has called neighbors to kindly ask that their bands pipe down.

Has anyone tried that radioreference site today? I can't get any of the feeds to work. :think:

This sounds really cool! I remember when I was little my grandpa always had his police scanner on when we came over. He really loved that stuff!

I've only been able to get the live scanners to work one time since I posted this site. :think:

A few times I've tried and I thought it wasn't going to work, then all of the sudden it worked. There are some that say they have no active scanners at this time.

I have trouble even with the ones that have active scanners. But I've found if I go to the bottom of that page and click "listen" using Windows Media Player as the Player Selection, it works fine.
