Hello, friends!:

As I had promised to Rob, here I have some good photos of my city...and there will be more! Wink

Vanesa.

Pic of "Galerías Pacífico", a little shopping that is close to the B.A downtown. There are some shpoppins much bigger than this one, but I like "Galerías Pacífico" for it is more stylish.

This is "Recoleta Neighborhood", only two blocks away from my home (I live in Recoleta). You are seeing French flag, for the building who shows it , is now France Embassy. Formerly, it was Ortiz Basualdo petit-hotel. The Ortiz Basualdo are a powerful old family from Argentina.

Always in Recoleta. This is the outside part of the famous caffée "La Biela". A lot of intellectuals and history writers, and poets and musicians came here to have a beer or a coffe along with their friends, and discuss politics or art.

In downtown. Congress of the Nation. There, deputies and senators would have their sessions. It's like the USA's Capitol.

Entry of "Colon Theater". Is the classic music and Opera theater of B.A. It is said to be bigger and with more accustic than Milan's Scala.

Hope you liked this first bunch of pics of B.A!

Vanesa. Smile

Hi, Alex:

Yes; Buenos Aires history is indeed very interesting. Some day, when I have more time, I'll post more about this issue.

Now, as I've promised, you have more good pics about B.A.

The mytic Obelisc. It was built in 1936. Its placed in "9 de Julio Avenue".

The Cabildo. It was the old municipal building, built by the Spaniards at XVII Century. Now is a Museum of 25 of May Revolution againts Napoleon and his brother José I , who was ruling in Spain those days. You can find it at downtown, just in front of Casa Rosada.

"El Rosedal". Its a place with lots of flowers and lakes who is placed at the "Jardines de Palermo" (Palermo Gardens), very similar to Bois de Boulogne in Paris.

More of "El Rosedal".

And now, our Chinatown. It is in Belgrano neighborhood.

More to come!

Vanesa.

Galerías Pacífico.....I'd stand there gazing at the paintings on the wall/ceilings for hours! WOW. And the entry to the Colon Theater is stunning! All of the pictures are great - thanks so much for sharing them with us!

Hi Savannah...I like very much these paintings. I stare at them a great amount of time every time I could go there.

Colon Theater is amazing. There , I watched my first opera: "The Wedding if Figaro", by Mozart. It lasted four hours, but I found it no boring at all. The sourroundings were so artistic...and the opera itslef so stunning... thud

Vanesa, beautiful. What took you to Buenos Aires? (Sorry, I've been gone from this community for a while.)

I AM from Buenos Aires. grinsmiley However, my father comes from Comodoro Rivadavia ( Chubut provinca in Patagonia, Argentina), and my mother from Rosario (Santa Fe province, also Argentina). I also have family in other provinces from Argentina. Like most of people who lives in a country's capital, my family has roots in other parts of the country. HeeHee I was born in B.A, Argentina.

Vanesa.
