Egyptian actor Omar Sharif has died. He was 83. Omar died today from a heart attack.

Personal connection here - he was a very good bridge player and friends with my father who was a grandmaster and author of bridge books.

I met Omar twice, once on my 12th Birthday in 1978 and again around 1981 when he came to our house for dinner. He was charming and sophisticated.

Wow, good on your dad, Joe. Bridge is a very hard game to gain any kind of expertise at.

Yes, bridge is hard - I know the rudiments but my interests lie elsewhere.

Very impressive. I also know the rudiments, but these days I just stick to the occasional game of Hearts against my computer. Hearts is like Bridge Lite. Smile
