it scans the computer every time I turn on. [color=#000000] Lily, just how often do you turn things on? LOL Rhonda. I used to leave my computer on all the time, then someone told me that my computer would most likely to get the virus attack if it's left on all the time. But then some other people said that it's actually good for the computer to be left on. When I used to leave it on, my computer would slow down. So I don't really know for sure which is which. Just to be on the safe side, I turn off my computer every night. Do you leave yours on? LOL Lily!!! I was giving you a bad time about the way you worded it. "....everytime I turn on" instead of "...everytime I turn it on" I turn my computer, both at home and at the office off when I am finished. One thing, at home, my computer is in a computer armoire and when it is left on, it gets hot and I don't want the armoire to catch on fire. The other thing, do you know how much energy and power these things pull when they are on????? I wish I could get my son to turn his computer off when he is finished, but he leaves it on 24/7 and the room he has it in is SO nasty HOT!!! CANCER FREE!!! - I also have AVG the free version now. I had Norton prior to my virus invasion on my computer last month, it had expired before my 1 year renewal, that was how I got the virus. My friend recommended me the AVG, it scans the computer every time I turn on.
I had AVG 'til I got the new pc, then I couldn't find the free version. But, my broadband provider comes with McAfee, and it seems to be doing a good job. No problems yet. I also rarely shut mine off. I've heard it go both ways, you should, you shouldn't, so that basically tells me it doesn't really matter, but I've just always had better luck with performance when I leave it on and leave it alone. The downside to that is how much more dirt gets through your fan. that's what I like about Dell. You can just pop the side off, blow out the dust and dirt, and put it back on. | |
