| I'm drawing a blank here..why did the Ingalls leave Walnut Grove...the season where they sold the farm to the Carters? |

| Season 9 opens with Laura's narrative saying that Pa just couldn't make it anymore and he decided to move the family to Burr Oak, IA. I think that's an example of sloppy writing if other farmers could make in Walnut Grove.
When the whole town shut down because of the railroad companies putting pressure on the Grange, it made sense. Just one farmer being affected makes no sense at all--even if he did have a large family. He had lots of land, so he could have increased the amount of crops planted.

I completely agree Cheryl. It just did not make sense at all.

| They could have said that Pa leave for he had an "itchy foot", as Ma used to tease him in real life...Generally, the real Charles Ingalls was always leaving places for he has an adventurous spirit, not for he had bad crops or so...Sometimes he does, but he had the fantasy of keeping going West...that was not always Ma's opinion... | But with this instance, Charles and his family were going south east and going east was considered backtracking. That was a big no-no for the pioneers.
I can't imagine what excuse they could have used for having the Ingalls family leaving Walnut Grove, but the one they used didn't work for me.

I'd love it if we could re-write Season 9 to our liking. I have plenty of ideas. Well then, why don't you share them and we can see what we can put together. Cheryl

| Susan McCray and I were corresponding about LHOP the other day and Michael Landon's name came up. She felt that shows like he produced would be find it hard in today's television world. | |

I think that's right, sadly. If it doesn't have sex, violence, or filthy language, or it's not a reality show, it doesn't fly in today's TV world.

| I read an interesting article in one of my trade journals about reality TV; it seems the reason the networks love them is because they are so cheap to produce. I never thought of that angle because I really think they are dumb. But, in my opinion, it shows the state of financial affairs in TV today. Networks are struggling to find shows that attract large audiences without paying a heapload for big name stars. | |

Yea..they don't have to pay the contestants any salary so there's a big chunk they save. |

| To me season nine is in a totally different league than the rest of little house. And I mean that in a bad way! The last three movies I thought were better though. | |

| I think that they made this kind of bad show for both reasons: they are cheap in cost and they wants to change peoples mentallity. "Little House" was always speaking against selfishness, violence and people whose only tought was to earn money. Family, religion, friendship, solidarity, couple love and patriotism are values that nowadays are rejected.
As for season nine. Yes. It IS different from the rest of the show. However, I DO like the last episode of it and the three movies...Maybe for in the first one there is Charles in it, and in the last one, Charles and Caroline? :shifty: And I like Sir Montague a lot. I wish they've made more episodes with him in them.

I did like two out of the three movies, but Bless All the Dear Children annoyed me to no end. Almanzo wouldn't have left Rose and it was very sappy at the end. Like Vanesa, I really liked Montague. I actually wish they had introduced his character earlier in Season 9 as a companion for Isaiah instead of bringing Matthew to Walnut Grove. Cheryl

| I always thought that they should have introduced Rachel Brown earlier. I would've loved to see more of Harriet's reactions about her little boy! | |

| I agree that the Ingalls Left was a Dumb idea but the Reason was that they left was because Michael Landon and Karen Grassle wanted to Leave but they could of made an Better excuse and for the wild boy i don't think they should done that episode he could have a Monkey in there and and take the Peopels Money that the Peopel just were rip off lol | |

| Yes..I forgot about Rachel Brown too. She was a wonderful character to developpe. The writers allowed Willie to be a "little boy" when all the others friends of him had already left the school. Laura seemed to be a mature woman compared with Willie and he only was some three years younger than her! Vanesa. | |

| Yeah that was so unfair that he never grew up till the end and it doesn't make sense either. Rachael Brown was the most beautiful one time female character. Beckie LETS GO PENS! | |
