Legendary comedian and actor Bob Newhart has passed away at age 94. Newhart was best known for his deadpan comedic delivery, where he would deliver the most outrageous lines without breaking character or cracking a smile.
Newhart's lengthy career included long-running hit sitcoms, such as The Bob Newhart Show in the 1970s and Newhart in the 1980s, as well as more recently a guest role on The Big Bang Theory. Newhart's movie roles also included Papa Elf in Elf and the voice of mouse Bernard in the animated The Rescuers. In his career, Newhart won various awards, including several Grammy's, for his spoken comedy albums, yet only received one major award for his comedy acting.
Newhart was born September 5, 1929 in Oak Park Illinois. He served in the Army during the Korean War, then worked as an accountant before stepping into the world of comedy and performance.
