Depends on what it is, but for the most part I do. I'll eat eggs that are past their date, since I've worked in the business before and know they'll still be good, but all other dairy I do. I'll drink milk past its date, but it has to smell ok.

Everytime I get yogurt it is always about to expire. They need to pull those at least a month in advance. In the hospital we have to get rid of everything that is about to expire in 2 months. Stores should do the same. Huh?

Same here, I always use the "smell test" with milk. In my experience, milk always seems to stay fresh longer in the carton over the plastic bottle.

This isn't about expired food, but it's still kind of disgusting.

Once when I was a kid I wanted a bowl of chocolate pudding for a bedtime snack. So I went to the fridge and scooped up a big bowl. After a couple bites, I said, "Mom, this pudding tastes funny." She looked at it and said, "That's not pudding... it's gravy." Yup, I was eating a bowl of cold, congealed beef gravy. affraid

 LOL not very appetizing when it's not over meat and potatoes is it? Oh yuck...I can't imagine just eating a bowlful of gravy - congealed no less. ROTFL

Expiration date on medicine is very important too. Once I overlooked the date on Tylenol Fever Reducer med, I wonder why my daughter's fever wouldn't subside, I checked the date and it had expired. I went back to the pharmacy and exchanged it (always keep the receipts).
