| This was a terrific episode which seems underappreciated. Outstanding performance by Jack Kruschen, who was also a chess champion a few years earlier in "Columbo: The Most Dangerous Match." | |

| Yes. I liked it...But what a tremendous end! I was very frightened as a young child the first time I watched it. Poor Albert...He was the more frightened of them, for he couldn't believe that Gambini would not succeded getting away the box. Vanesa. | |

| This is not an epsiode I go out of my way to watch, but it does teach a valuable lesson about hero worship. | |

| The scene in which Charles Ingalls meets Gambini is especially deep. Gambini disagrees with him yet agrees not to oppose him. Great character development there.
By the way, Albert is simply the best or on the way to being the best at everything. He could have been a daredevil ten times as talented as Gambini.

| Willie was ridiculous in this episode going on about how fat Gambini was. I’m glad they matured Willie’s character because he was getting too old to act like that. |

| I was also big eyed watching this as a child. It was one you had to watch to the end. I really felt sorry for his wife. She stood by him through so much. | I like the scene in which Charles Ingalls confronts Gambini the Great. Disagreement yet strong mutual respect for each other. It is how a civilized conversation is supposed to occur. Supposedly the episode had to end in the way in which it did. Jack Kruschen was in "Columbo: The Most Dangerous Match". His character died in that one too, yet Columbo caught the killer. | |

| In my opinion this wasn't one of the better LHOTP episodes. It was sad that Gambini didn't listen to his wife, his children, or even Charles when he stopped Albert from training with Gambini.
It did improve the episode though when Willie said "where is the cat?" while Nancy was practicing the piano and Nels said "I'm not surprised the cat is hiding with that noise." Any episode where Nels says something sarcastic is a good one.

| I kind of like this episode, even though it has a tragic ending. On the other hand, I admit that I also kind of enjoy "danger acts," so this episode makes me think about whether or not it is wrong to enjoy watching those kind of acts and/or to support those kind of acts. I think a lot of "danger acts" today are about show and I'm not always sure those performing them are in as much danger as they pretend to be. But there is still an element of danger, and some of the acts I have seen have been very truly dangerous for the performers. Still, some people, especially those born into families that perform, seem to truly love doing what they do, even with the risk. So is it wrong to enjoy those kind of acts?
Who was the extra trapeze performer supposed to be? We never saw anyone else traveling with the family (other than Stefano, who left before they went to Walnut Grove), but wasn't there an extra trapeze artist in the scene where the Gambinis were practicing on the trapeze?
