The weather

After 2 days of temps in the 60's, it's gonna get cold here in Northern Virginia. Snow/ice mix for Sunday.

We haven't really had raking weather in awhile.  When it was a little warmer I had other things that I had to do (and it was raining a couple of those days).  Not only that, the leaves weren't completely off the tree in the back.  Now they are completely down and it is only 11 degrees (feels like it is -1).  Tomorrow it will snow.  The leaves will then be covered.  And they will be covered for awhile.  According to weather predictions the following 9 days will be 27, 21, 22, 10, 22, 28, 27, 25 and 28. So, no melting any time in the near future.  

I don't care for the snow because I always get plowed in.  Otherwise snow really wouldn't bother me so much.  But to let you know how much I hate the idea of my shoveling job, I would take this freezing weather over the snow!

This little guy is perfect to describe my day today.

The last I heard it was 19 (felt like 0) outside. My legs still haven't warmed up yet. That happens every time I shovel. Especially when I have to shovel snow that I didn't plan on shoveling. Yes, I did get plowed in but not by the plow that I expected it from!

We got a flurry of snow last night and then a lot of rain, so the roads were covered in ice this morning. Most of the schools in the state had at least a delayed opening. Tonight we are supposed to get more snow, I hope it amounts to at least a couple of inches! For the past week I've been hearing on the news about a huge storm that has been making its way across the country, and I feel like everywhere but Connecticut, where I live, has gotten snow already.

Last February we got three feet of snow in twenty four hours with Blizzard Nemo. About a month later, just as the snow from Nemo was finally starting to melt, we were hit with another storm. That was the most snow I've ever seen!    it got to be too much, having to dig my car out of massive snow drifts and shovel a path out to our barn, so I'm not sure why I'm waiting for the first real snowstorm of this season. I'll probably be grumpy once I have to start shoveling again!

A couple of years ago we lost power when we had a freak snowstorm in October. We did the same thing with our food from the fridge, just stuck it out in the snow. Of course, when I was home alone, I stepped two feet outside the front door to get something to eat out of a cooler, and the door shut and locked behind me. So my neighbors driving by got to watch me running to get the spare key with no shoes on    

  We had more snow late yesterday afternoon, early evening. I now have 10" and it won't be melting off until the weekend or after.....Add 3" more of snow to the pic I posted above of the snow covered wall....I have cabin fever......if it were a REAL cabin, in the mountains, it would be more fun....

That's for sure! Every time its gets cold, I think of the people in shelters.....We ALL have a lot to be thankful for..........

No snow here in the valley floor but it sure has been freezing in the mornings!
The people that live at higher elevations and the mountains sure are getting snow right now!

We're actually supposed to get in the 50º's today.....if it wasn't for the snow and ice still on the sides of the roads, I'd go for a bike ride!!! But, the way people drive, I'd be sliding off into the ditch.....I was finally able to get out of the house yesterday and made the morning worship service at church. I didn't even try to venture out last night tho, I knew the wet part I saw in the morning, would be ice that night.....Come Friday, is a whole different story......they're talking snow again....I AM SO DONE WITH WINTER!!!   

Looking at those horrid winter temperatures, I can now understand why Eskimos rub noses.....
if they kissed their lips would lock up!
